"Games People Play," Joe South's big hit (he also wrote "Rose Garden," and other hits), has been covered by a ton of people over the years. This one, and the performer, is new to me, but she's really got it going on with this song. It's a righteous cover.

Lissie - "Games People Play."

A chick band called Zepparella does an amazing cover of Led Zep's "When the Levee Breaks." Girlfriend is a fiend on the harp.

Holy carp! I got chills at the 7:36 mark! Amazing instrumental work. Voice isn't what it needs to be, but I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5!

I have posted this guy before.......but give this a listen. Great young artist, and a sad country song. Has some lines in there that hit close.

One of my new favorites by Beth Hart - thanks to YKW, I've spent the last hour and a half listening to her - "Nutbush City Limit." It's an excellent fusion of the best elements of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band's version, and The Queen, Miss Tina Turner's.

As a reminder, the original:

And a damn fine cover. I do like the Live Bullet version best, but couldn't find it on youtube:

Bonus track by a relatively unknown band. I posted this sometime back, but well worth a listen. I love that bass line that sounds like it's coming from under the stage.

Cheap Whiskey Band

One of my more favorite songs, "Who'll Stop the Rain?" Originally by John Fogerty and Creedence Clearwater Revival, this version is by Bob Seger and John Fogerty.

Bonus track: Creedence Clearwater Revival

This is so good, I"m going to listen to it twice, just because I can!

The Temptations - "Papa Was a Rolling Stone"

I started to put this in the country music thread, but it's more of a novelty song. It's a play on the Charlie Daniels' song "Devil Went Down to Georgia," which, if I never hear again, it'll be too soon for the likes of me.

This is an Australian band called Ruckus, with "Devil Pub."

We should start a Motown, Soul tred.

If I did this correctly, it should start out with probably my all-time most favorite-ist song in the whole wide world, "Have You Seen Her," by the Chi-lights. I like it even better than "Layla," which is saying a lot.

Edit: crap, that didn't work...hang on....Okay, better. Not sure why that wasn't working.
