Mark Knopfler tells a story with every song and this is one of his best. He’s playing it on a resonator guitar which is the prettiest design ever.

Always a great combination. Emmylou's "Roses in the Snow" (1980) is the first album of hers I ever bought, even though I'd been a fan since I was in the Navy in the mid- to late-'70s. She and Gram Parsons did a lot of work up until his death in '73, I think it was.

Oddly enough, I remember almost all of the words to this song and album. Mom had it and sister and I played it on our record player over and over again.
