Sing along .....

25 years AND my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made FOR this
Brotherhood of man
For whatever that means

[Chorus:]
And So I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
JUST To get it all out what's in my head
AND I, I Am feeling a little peculiar
AND So I wake in the morning and I step
Outside AND I take deep breath
AND I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on

And I SING hey-YEAH-YEA-EAH, EAH HEY YEA YEA
I said hey! What's goin' on
And I SING hey-YEAH-YEA-EAH, EAH HEY YEA YEA
I said hey! What's goin' on

OOOH, OO! OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOO
OO-OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOOOO
OOOH! OOO-AAH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOO
OO-OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOOOO Whats up?

And I try, oh my God do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray, oh my God do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution

[Chorus:]
And So I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
JUST To get it all out what's in my head
AND I, I Am feeling a little peculiar
AND So I wake in the morning and I step Outside
AND I take deep breath
AND I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on

And I SING hey-YEAH-YEA-EAH, EAH HEY YEA YEA
I said hey! What's goin' on
And I SING hey-YEAH-YEA-EAH, EAH HEY YEA YEA
I said hey! What's goin' on

And I SING hey-YEAH-YEA-EAH, EAH HEY YEA YEA I said hey! what's goin' on
And I SING hey-YEAH-YEA-EAH, EAH HEY YEA YEA
I said hey! What's goin' on

OOOH, OO! OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOO
OO-OOH-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOOOO-AHH-HAA

I woke my cat singing along 😂

What a cross between grunge and steampunk!

She also has a Steven Tyler mouth 😂

I can never hear this song again after hearing the late John Pinett sing an excerpt from one of his routines.

I have no idea what the piano is doing there:

Anyway, the song I listened to:

"Pure Imagination" (from "Willy Wonka") - Jazz Ballad Version feat. Tawanda

I'll spare you the convoluted way I got to this one, which I probably hadn't heard since I was a kid.

According to the info on the YT tube page, it was first issued in 1945. Just the google in FF was not very productive. If you type in "Lily Belle," you get all kinds of results - just nothing related to the actual song. You have to type in "Oh, Lily Belle," and you will get videos. Not many, but you will get them. And you'll get lyrics for the song as well, but no wiki, for example.

If you're curious, "Oh, Lily Belle" occurs as the refrain in "(I've Got Spurs That) Jingle, Jangle, Jingle." This one is by Tex Ritter.

Listening to a bunch of songs right now.

Johnny Horton, "Whispering Pines" (1958).

The Kingston Trio "M.T.A." (1961).

Joan Baez, "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" (1971). Originally written by Robbie Robertson and The Band in 1969.

Tennessee Ernie Ford "16 Tons" (1955). First written by Merle Travis in 1946; released in 1947.

This is pretty much the version I grew up on, though there are other versions; most notably by the Temptations. Both groups have really long - like, 12 minute plus - of this song. I've heard the Temptations' long version, but not the Undisputed Truth.

"Smiling Faces." (1971)

Who is or was a fan of Bob Dylan and/or Joan Baez? Because I was a massive fan of both, back in the day. Dylan and I have grown apart over the years, and I confess, I don't listen to Baez often, but I still love her voice. To me: she's pretty lovable for a leftie. Make no mistake: she's a hippie commie pinko fag; no doubt about it.

Anyway, like most everything she does, she does brilliantly on this Dylan song called "Sad-eyed Lady of the Lowlands" (1966). It's from his 7th album, "Blonde on Blonde."

"How Long" is a 1974 song by the British group Ace from their album Five-A-Side. It reached No. 3 in the US and Canadian charts, and No. 20 in the UK chart. Lead singer Paul Carrack composed the song upon discovering that bassist Terry Comer had been secretly working with other bands. Comer returned to Ace in time to play on the song.
