What ever happened with the sauerbraten?
Went back to the old recipe, didn’t have the ingredients I need to do Haussners.

Turned out about the same as last time. I seem to be the only one that really enjoys it though.

I've been fussing over a pot of chili all afternoon trying to figure out what tasted off about it. First it was sour, so added Stevia. It was still acidy, so added baking soda. It still didn't taste like chili. Then I realized I started with dry beans and all the tomato products were "no salt added". :banghead: I added 2 teaspoons of sea salt and now it tastes more like chili. It will rest in the fridge overnight so the flavors can mingle and I'll see if it needs adjusting.

Tonight I'll pan fry the rest of the perch I defrosted yesterday and have fish 'n' chips.

I've done that before thinking all those other seasonings will make it so you do not miss the sodium... NOT. Must add some to anything tomato based.
