Yea, I know. They interrupt The Young and the Restless for that nonsense.

Topper Shutt in studio: "Let's go to the field reporter for the latest from the inner loop of the beltway".

Field Reporter.: "I'm on the inner loop of the beltway near FedEx Field and here, nothing is happening. There's some snow, there's some traffic, otherwise NOTHING IS HAPPENING. Let's throw it to other field reporter who is in southern MD where I'm certain: nothing is happening.

Other field reporter: Thank you, Agamemnon. Yes, nothing is happening let's go back to the hot pieces of ass in the studio.

Studio: So there you have it, nothing is happening.

Don't you be interrupting' my stories.

You should live in bum #### Indiana.. We do have Tornado sirens at least.

The cop didn't have to kill.

That's so easy for you to say. You weren't there so you don't have a clue. I will bet you that the cop shot in order to disable the shooter and end the situation. It's sad that the shooter died later but I can say that it wasn't the cop's intent to kill him.

The cop didn't have to kill.

His job in this instance was to eliminate the threat. That was his duty. As to whether his was the fatal shot has yet to be determined.
Rueters said:
An autopsy is being carried out on Rollins to determine whether he was killed by a shot fired by the officer or from a self-inflicted gunshot. Investigators also remain uncertain over who fired the shot that hit Barnes, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said.

UPDATE:

Just to dispel some of the social media rumors, Jaelynn Willey is still in critical condition at PG Hospital, and Desmond Barnes was released yesterday from MedStar.

Saw there is a fundraiser for the young man, not sure why though.

Oh yes he did.

He had to disable the shooter, one possible outcome of doing that is death. Kid left him no other option.

Agreed. Until autopsy reports come out its still to early to tell what bullets hit who. If the shooters bullet wasn't self inflicted and the officer only shot to wound him, the suspect could have continued to shot (no telling how many bullets were still in the clip)and maybe more people could have been wounded. HE DID HIS JOB, and did as he was trained to do.

His actions are what stopped the shooter. Whether it was his bullet or the shooters own is a moot point. Pretty sure he didn't 'shoot to wound' but 'shoot to stop'. There is nothing like 'shooting someone in the knee' or 'shooting the gun out of his hands'. While the latter has happened here and there before, it is not something taught anywhere that I am aware of.

While this is little consolation for the family of the girl who is still in the hospital (with from what I understand a very severe injury), as school shootings go this one ended pretty well.

LEO firearms training is to shoot center mass. Center mass is from the waist up to the shoulders. SWAT Officers are taught to shoot center mass and double tap the head.

That..and to add to that..the same is taught in all defensive handgun training classes. It's not limited to LEO training. It's what you do.
