What's your biggest disappointment with 9-11?

So what's your biggest beef with 9-11? I'm not talking about the war or the fact we haven't even come close to catching Bin Laden.... But what about here in the States?

I have to say IMO the political bureaucracy in NY city takes the cake!!! The simple fact that today marks five years later there's absolutely nothing to show but a huge crater where the towers stood proud has to be the worst reprenstation in this Country.

Nothing says to the terrorists that they have succeeded [in some form] better than this. The towers should have been built back, bigger and taller then before and in record time.

I saw a thing on Penn and Tellers' show Bull#### about this and the amount of "politics" and "posturing" that's been going for five years is sickening.

hmmm

The lack of public executions being beamed from Gitmo
Heck: make it pay-per-view.

Give bio of the Islamofascist, how he was caught, a sample of the info we got out of him...Then force feed him a ham & cheese sandwich followed by a 9mm behind the ear.

Your tact is amazing
I can think of no better way to increase the lack of support for the war.

Dissapointments...

1. The ridiculous use of the word 'homeland'. Domestic is fine. US is fine. America is fine. 'Homeland' alludes to Germany's 'Fatherland' and the old Soviet 'Mother Russia' thing. We're America. Melting pot. Immigrants. Remember? This has bugged me from day one.

2. Doing Afghanistan and Iraq on the cheap. You get there first with the most. Not some bureaucratic minimum necessary. Powell and Schwarzkopf took forever building up the necessary force...and swamped Iraq in 1991. I love Rummy but damn, too much bean counting.

3. Saudi got a free pass. UBL and most of his Gomers are theirs. Clean up your own damn mess. Americans absorbed a near doubling of gas prices. We'll deal with the shocks and inconveniences of energy disruption and, for that matter, global war and chaos. JUST GET THE JOB DONE. They should have sealed their border with Iraq.

4. Pakistan got a free pass. See above. You go kill all of them ####ers in your 'wild' lands. Or we will. Should have sealed their border as well.

5. Syria got a free pass. See above. Border.

6. Turkey hosed us. They prevented the 4th ID from coming South into Iraq on the eve of the invasion. Bush HAD to get them to cooperate. Or postpone the mission. Rummy's perfect plan may well have worked had we executed the planned plan.

7. The TSA. This is how to do this?

8. Our border. Does not 'homeland' security BEGIN with our own borders? This includes the passport issues and ways and means of entry EVERYWHERE not just Mexico.

There's a starter list.

The "Patriot Act" and the loss of liberties for some percieved security. The Islamic extremists must be patting themselves on the back and laughing their @sses off at how much they have accomplished in this country.

Political correctness by the TSA at airports. It was 20-40 year old middle eastern males involved with EVERY bombing in the last 10 years (except OK). Why are they searching Grandma?
I also find it amazing that the country isn't 100% behind fighting the terrorists. 2,400 people died at Pearl Harbor, the nation was outraged and we went out and kicked ass. Over 3,000 died on 9/11 and we get public hand wringing. Yahoo news had a story today about how shameful it was that Bush used his speech last night to justify the war in Iraq.

1. Weird conspiracy theories that get mainstream attention. "A group of top scientists believe..." Uh huh.

2. The hysteria that prompts our government to make restrictive laws that aren't going to do a bit of good at preventing another attack (example: airline restrictions). And I fully believe they KNOW these measures won't do any good, but they want the public to think they're "doing something" against terrorism when, in fact, the only way to prevent terrorist attacks is to....hunt down and kill the terrorists. :dur:

3. Bush said, "You're either for us or you're against us" but he didn't mean that, as we can plainly see by his loving embrace of our "friends", Pakistan and Saudi.

4. The payouts to WTC victims' next of kin. One of the worst precedents in modern history.

5. The bawling and puling over treatment of prisoners. Somehow our definition of "torture" turned into "anything at all that makes the prisoner feel even the slightest bit uncomfortable."

I could go on and on, but those are the ones off the top of my head.

THIS one got to me..

How many multi million dollar payouts went to the victims in the Pentagon?? If the people in the towers were so smart they should have had enough life insurance in place to cover an unexpected loss, the government shouldn't be left bailing out their families. It wasn't our governments fault, why are we paying reparations?

A business person's family from the Tower gets a 2 million payout, while the military person in the Pentagon, his family gets the 200K SGLI..

I think the victim's families held our gov't responsible since they didnt do anything to prevent the attack from happening (since we're all now hearing how the government has known about it, etc). Not saying i agree w/ this, but i do think the victim's families thought our gov't is indirectly responsible for their loved ones death. Therefore... money.

I thought it was an agreement/payoff so that the Families wouldnt sue the Airlines

Maybe it is. How could they sue the airlines? How is it in the slightest their fault?

BS..... It wasn't the governments fault, they didn't plan it, nor did they fly the planes into the building.. IF you are going to sue someone sue the countries that financed the terrorists, freeze Osama's assets, sue him.. I can't think of ANY good reason for the Gov't to do what they did.

Then there were the few ungrateful #####es that thought the 2 or 3 million dollars was an insult. Greedy, I hope they end up with nothing and have to borrow money from their household help to buy groceries.

THEN to add insult, they valued every life differently.. the janitor's wives didn't get a 1/3 of what the white collar workers got.

I’m disappointed…………….

That it’s been 5 years and Usama is still alive.

Bipartisanship disappeared within days of the attack.

Americans are blinder than ever with regards to the war.

The media is allowed to play the same games they played in Vietnam.

My biggest frustration is that 9/11 was just more than the twin towers.

Flight 93 and the Pentagon were also a part of the attack. Im tired of seeing the media focus on the twin towers and not the day as a whole
