I encourage all businesses affected to do the same. Civil disobedience.
That's a great idea. Encourage businesses who are already struggling to risk getting a huge fine by disobeying the executive order. I'm constantly amazed at how many people think that they really have a choice in any of this. I'm not saying that I agree with any of it, but it's not your decision to make. You might think it is, but it isn't .

Wrong on all points you made. First, if they are fined...see if it gets paid. Executive order...last time I checked we live in a free country. People have a choice.,.again we live in a free country. It is Our decision to make. We don’t have to think about it. It is Our decision to make. Period. Did you vote for Obama, and do you like Pelosi, and her crew, and do you like being told what to do because of a virus? Just wondering. Trump saw the writing on the wall, switched parties, and now it has come back to haunt him. Go, Trump!

Forgot to say the C 19 is a political virus. There are no vaccines for that. Damn shame. God bless the USA.

I've been working as normal through most of the lockdown. Working from home this week. So far I will gladly stay home and play with my dogs for a few months, as long as I'm getting paid.

You are lucky. Lucky is the name of my new feral cat. Too funny, or not.

Yes I have been fortunate that work in my field is still in great demand. I am also fortunate that my employer, and primary customer are treating me very good. Financially I haven't been hurt, but I did not realize how exhausted I was until I had five days off in a row. It's been several years since I've taken more than a long 4 day weekend break.

Personally I am ready for some self-isolation.

I think I'm going to go take a nap.

And I hate meaningless buzzphrases like "flatten the curve".

I only hate the fact that once they established that as the goal -

They changed the goal. The premise is - flatten the curve - that we mitigate the problem until we are equipped to handle it.

Now - for some reason - that is not good enough. We are expected to sit in our homes and lose money and gobble what is left of our savings - because they haven't eradicated it completely. Well that is NOT flattening the curve - that is erasing the curve. And that is insane.

The local health department and other licensing agencies can and will fine business that don't comply.
The business can refuse to comply and the agency can continue to fine them.
But unfortunately the 'law" favors the government agency as they have power that would have to be appealed in court.
Liquor board can pull the license, Health Department can order businesses closed, code enforcement.
You cross the government, expect to pay.

There are a couple of problems, you are correct, but now they are finding the number of infected is much greater than reported.
For example, in LA they are saying number of infected is 55 percent higher than earlier estimates. As more testing is done, they are finding a higher number of infections. The good news is that the death rate dramatically falls up, because those numbers aren't following the number infected.
The other is politics, the states most inclined to not ease up on restrictions and even threaten their residents, are democratic party strong holds.
This is about winning control of the Congress and the White House and turning us into a single party nation.
Just remember how a lot of democrats view politics, it's not how you play the game, it's about winning.
The ends justify the means. There are people thrilled that millions are suffering and are happy to blame it on Trump.
Which is ironic because they have attacked him if he came or went.
He says ban travel from China, Nanny Nancy has a block party in Chinatown screaming racism.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
So when I gave the flippant answer that the state would open up the second week in November, I was alluding to the national eelection.
Notice the party of "fair" elections wants mail in ballots. The party worried about foreign intervention has been tagged with some of the biggest election thefts of all time.
The party against voter ID, picture ID and proof of residency and citizenship wants mail in voting.
What do you think is going to happen?

If they don't pay the fine they will go to jail, yet another cause and effect situation.

We already had the executive order discussion here. It's law until overturned by judicial process whether you like it or not. You can make whatever decision you like as long as you're prepared to suffer the consequences.

Whether I like what we're being told to do or not is irrelevant. Unlike most people here I don't politicize this virus, it is what it is. Yes, the constitution gives you the right to make your own decisions. Be prepared to suffer whatever consequences arise from those decisions.

I appreciate your comments, but, yes, this virus is political. What stands out to me in your post is “suffer the consequences“. It still ain’t right.

I appreciate your comments. Who makes the laws now? i have never broken the law or ever gotten a speeding ticket. It depends on who is making the laws. I carry that mini Constitution in my purse along with other things. Does that answer your question?
