When will Maryland re open?

Sorry you can't read for comprehension but I'll type it slower for you.
Use molecular testing on higher risk people. (The following should have been self explanatory) IF THEY TEST POSITIVE THEN QUARANTINE THEM.

I know it must be terrible being the only person with elderly, at risk parents that can't see their grandkids.
Thanks SO MUCH for typing slower. That really helped.

You in turn missed my point. It's not being "hyperbolic" at all. My parents, like many elderly, are effectively confined to their homes (yes, just like all of us at the moment). In the case of nursing homes, EVERY single resident in every single nursing home across Maryland at least is locked in their small and often shared rooms - not because they're infected, but because they're at risk. It's the only thing keeping them alive.

Go too loose on the travel and social restrictions, and more people WILL be infected. When more infected people are out-and-about, those at-risk people WILL be effectively locked up, because if they get infected they'll probably (70-80% certainty) die. They simply won't be able to risk going out.

I'm not advocating locking everyone up. I'm pointing out that keeping those at-risk people safe involves some inconvenience for the rest of us.

I'm sorry, but again you just contradicted yourself. Social restrictions and preventing people being out-and-about is locking everyone up.

Might I suggest a scenario that would have cost less and not ruined our economy?

Locking down the facilities that house those at-risk people, from large nursing homes to individual houses. Providing fiscal incentive to caretakers to be quarantined with them until this unknown disease passes over -- heck, if every nursing home employee would be offered $500k to stay in quarantine for 3 months, there would be a line out the door for those jobs. Again, on strictly voluntary basis, with effective financial incentive -- you know, capitalism, and freedom to choose.

And it would have cost us orders of magnitude less than the sum of our COVID bailouts and the hit our economy took. Plus immeasurable damage on the mental and psychological health of the entire US population. That is not some inconvenience.

Yes the FBI and Richard Nixon had disdain for John Lennon, although I liked his and George Harrison’s music, John was a drug addicted communist.

Good to see someone else remembered. I love his music and it was a different time. He didn't like Chairman Mao.

You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow"

Listen to the song imagine.... right out of a communist manifesto. Admit it.
But I’ll say it, the wrong two Beatles left us too soon.

How much do you think a human life is worth?
Pretty sure it isn't about that, I am pretty sure it is about keeping our infrastructure operational.

Meat packing plants are closing due to not enough healthy workers, what happens when you can't buy meat at the grocery store? Now imagine if a power plant doesn't have enough people to safely operate and the lights start going out? People will then wish they were "locked up" in their nice house full of food and with electricity. The powers that be tried to get the population to not buy all the masks up, do you really think they would tell them this scenario, because they know there would be immediate looting and riots.

The TR was docked because the reactor operators were all getting sick, I believe the captain asked for help because he did not have enough sailors to safely operate the reactors.

I think the fear is we will have a run like the start of a bad zombie movie.

I always chuckle when I hear it -- Imagine describes a band of lobotomized neutered humanoids lounging around in controlled environment, with food dropping from the skies. Perfect communism. Or my cat. I don't want to be a house cat, I want to be human with all that entails.

The line of "imagine no religion" -- did anyone ever run this past CAIR? You know, Islam is a religion -- so let's get rid of it? I wonder if those celebs will ever again sing it.

Destroying the economy is a mere inconvenience?
If you are a Trump hater it's a practical solution. People vote the economy, with it in the crapper nothing else will matter.
It's turned into a political dung fest. Opponents are going crazy with every word Trump utters, even if it's preceded with, "what do you think about doing something like this...?" The rest of the time it's rewriting history with 20/20 hindsight. Even talk of impeachment (again).

On a "call" right now and the time line is going to be long based on what I'm getting.
First the numbers have to go down and Hogan seems to be focused on the Metro DC area and he wants ZERO new cases

Even if everything here stayed open the economy would have gone down hill due to the rest of the world. In times like this people look for leadership and I believe he has provided that, I think most people that aren't in the Orange Man Bad no matter what happens think that too. It oculd end up being a blessing in disguise for him, pretty sure nobody has faith in Joe Biden providing leadership.

It was highly amusing to see Forest Gump pass along some lyrics to John on the Dick Cabot show---one of my favorite scenes---Brilliant.

I think the DNC knows this, Obama knows it and there is a move to have him step down.
Do you think this Tara Reed just showed up. I'm hearing there is solid evidence to collaborate her story and it was pubic in 1993
Apparently her mother went public with it on the Larry King Live radio show. Her full name wasn't used, but she was a caller from X - which just so happened to be were mom lived. So why now, why not when he was running for Senate, or when he was running as VP?
Because he's a jerk, always has been. Anyone who road the metorliner from Philly to DC on a regular basis can tell you that,
No, it' because they didn't have anyone else that would get the black vote, but now Michelle Obama is ready to step forward.

The original and clearly stated plan was to use these mitigating measures to "FLATTEN THE CURVE". Not eliminate the virus - just slow it down long enough for the medical professionals to deal with the onslaught. We weren't prepared; just cool your jets long enough - and we'll be able to handle it.

But the narrative has to be for those - who are really honestly against ANY re-opening - we have make sure it is gone and never comes back, and we have to watch our economy crumble so badly, our food supply - for example - collapses. We have to watch while the nation spends itself into oblivion trying to support the millions the government put out of business. And it is clear - some of them aren't coming back.

Some of those at risk - some of them will ALSO be hurt by a flailing economy. How else do you support a nursing home?

The left likes the phrase "how much is a life worth?". Sorry. There are lives on both sides of that equation. It's like asking which wing of the plane is worth. Wreck the economy - and you won't be able to save the at risk people.

Actually I place more value on human kind as opposed to individual humans. I feel lives are more important than individual life and the reactions to this virus will affect the living long after the dead have turned to dust. I wonder if the suicides related to financial issues will be attributed to COVID, but you don’t care about those people.

Eradication will not happen, at least not for a good while. I suppose people have their hopes up because SARS seemed to disappear.

FWIW 80% of people in nursing homes are paid for by medicaid.
