It's too bad that 94th Areo Squadron is closed. I thought that place was awesome. One of the best restruants I've ever been to.

I went there a longgg time ago - probably mid-80's. Very nice place!

Will my wife, who requires all meat be cooked well done, be able to find anything there?

Yes. We had a well done person in our party. When they came around with the meat and she requested something "more done", they returned in a few minutes with the same selection cooked to her liking. It seemed like they took note of her preference after a couple of times and they'd come by whenever they had something well done. As long as your wife doesn't get "grossed out" by the sight of rare meat and doesn't mind speaking up for something well done, she should be fine.

Went to Fogo de Chao with some friends last night -- the one in DC. GREAT service. We had reservations and were seated as soon as we arrived. Good food, but I doubt I'd ever go back. I didn't get a "wow factor" and there are plenty of other places I'd rather dine at for the money. All the meats tasted the same... so I was a little disappointed in that. The best part of the meal was the caramelized bananas. They were delicious!!

Sorry you didn't care for it - maybe you got the same meat over and over! We all especially liked the chicken and pork tenderloin - and all of the beef was good. I thought $50 per person was a deal. What restaurant would you recommend? I'm ready for another meal!

How about the salad bar? It looks fantastic on their website.

Fogo, to me, is an indulgent pig out place. The food is tasty and well-prepared, but you're right - for $50 a head, you can go to Charlie Palmer's or some other fine dining steakhouse. The sheer volume of meat is the "wow" at Fogo. Especially for someone like me who hates to commit to an entree and really wants a bite of everything.

It's ridiculous and easy to fill up on so you have no tummy room for the meats.

I'm not supposed to eat meat but the salad bar looks worth $50 to me.

Smoked salmon, fresh mozzy, asparagus and greens. I will sneak in a little of the cured meats on the bar and sniff the meat everyone else is eating. Might even sneak a bite of that.

I've wanted to go there for years.

I hate to try to defend a restaurant, as it's all personal taste, but I want to explain - I thought we were getting off pretty cheap for $50 per person. And I don't think we could have gotten the same at Charlie Palmers, where, if I remember right, we even paid a few bucks for horseradish sauce. We sat at Fogos as long as we wanted and ate all we could possibly want (probably more). With the exception of the sausages (which none of us liked much) we all thought it was pretty tasty.

It wasn't a hunk of prime rib or steak and a stuffed baked potato plopped in front of us to mow our way through, but we can get that anywhere and pay way less or way more and walk away with pretty much the same feeling at each one of those places, regardless of price. What we got at Fogo was an "unstuffy" meal. It was casual and kind of fun - trying all the different meats, comparing who liked what the best, getting as much as we wanted of the ones we like the best. Was it the best meal I have ever had? No. But I definitely thought we got our money's worth and it was exactly the sort of "something different" that we were looking for.

Salad bar was good. Not mind blowing but you could definitely eat too much at the salad bar and regret it when the meat started coming around.

Oooo I love Moroccan food! I've been there for lunch - but it looked like it'd be a pretty wild place in the evening. GREAT food and the waiter was really helpful with the menu.

That's good to know. We're headed there for the first time in a couple weeks, really looking forward to it. But I'll be the one who'll be requesting all meat well done, the pain in the azz at the table. :lmao:

Looks great on the website. I love a great salad bar!

Really? See, and I thought the salad bar was outstanding. Good selection and everything was very fresh and replenished constantly.

It was about the size of the salad bar at McKays, and didn't really have an enormous selection of eats IMO. I was expecting a lot more from Fogo de Chao based on everyone's experience, and mostly from their website. I would pay $10-15 for their salad bar alone; not $26 like they want.

As someone mentioned earlier, restaurants are personal choice. I will probably never visit Fogo again -- I just wasn't that into it. There are other restaurants that I've been to with much better food. But, it is checked off the bucket list.
