Why I have no desire to leave the United States

Cancun bar drugs college girls on vacation
They begin vomiting and seizing
Hospital won't even look at them until paid $10k cash upfront

Chuck Berry said it best: anything you want we got it right here in the USA.

Not sure what the attraction is to vacations in third world countries filled with violent drug cartels and no oversight, and PS you don't even speak the language for when there's a problem. There is nothing any country has that we don't have right here, AND we have clean grocery stores AND we have sanitation measures AND we have toilets that flush AND we have modern hospital facilities AND we don't see you as a target to rob and rape (except for Democrat cities - those, you might as well be in New Delhi or Juarez).

Seriously, why? Why would any American leave the US?

Having worked/traveled 22 different countries over the last 50 years.....

The ones I'm not likely to return to include Brazil and several of the Caribbean island countries. Was never inclined to go to Mexico except for work...and then only once. El Salvador has always been on my list of "countries I enjoyed living in" but only very recently has it become a safer place for a return visit.

For your consideration ...

One but just vacation in Florida which has near the same climate and a huge Hispanic population to boot for the near same experience. Plus it sits on the Gulf just as Mexico does.

I've traveled pretty much all over the world except for Asia, haven't had one bit of trouble in over 50 years. If you have never been to Europe you have missed out. Italy is my all-time favorite place to visit architecture, art and some of the best food on the planet, somewhat the same in France. Language has never been a barrier either in anyplace that I have visited even in the off the beaten track villages .
I spent almost more time in Mexico than the U.S. during Covid, no problems there either.

The bottom line is this, if you have never experienced it, you don't know what you are missing, books and film just doesn't do travel justice,

We've been to Cancun twice, early 2000's. Stayed at an all-inclusive resort and never had a problem. We've been to Jamaica once, again no problems, but, I wouldn't feel comfortable going to either of those places again. I've seen several news reports regarding tourists being drugged or given tainted alcohol.

My favorite foreign place would be Germany. I happened to be there just after the fall of the wall and couldn't go to the Eastern side. We sailors loved the Beer Gardens! Funny we wondered why were all those people disappearing into the woods!

I've been to Piney Point a few times in my travels. It wasn't all that bad and I only got nervous when I started hearing the banjo music. Never again...
I hear it's a little Al-byner fella who plays his seven string banjo with the six fingers on his left hand.

I’ve been out of the Country numerous times. The only place I will never set foot in again is Mexico.
It's unfortunate that most people's experience is limited to the border towns, resort cities, and Mexico city which are largely run by cartels and filled with thieves, crooks, and worse. The majority of the country is a nice place to visit with friendly people and good food.

Imagine people saying "I've been to San Francisco, New York City, and DC. So I've seen it all (coast to coast and the capital), and the US is dirty and filled with crooks and thugs".

Yes, there is "travel" and then there is "TRAVEL" if you haven't done both then you are not well traveled.

There are many places in the world I would like to see, but my finances pretty much keep me here.
Rome ,Venice, Paris , the Alps, Holland, the Great Wall of China, many things.
I went to Mexico when I was stationed at Fort Sam in San Antonio, and that was enough for me.
The border towns suck and I am told that if you leave the tourist section of the touristy Mexican cities it sucks there too.

I enjoyed all the time I spent working in Germany. I was working there, up in Eckernforde on the Baltic Sea, when the wall fell. Our German boss told us to take a day off and go visit East Germany! Couldn't due to US clearances held. Fast forward a bit..was working there on Unification Day, staying in Hamburg. Got "trapped" on the far side of town from my hotel due to the riots that broke out; taxis and u-bahn quit running! Good times...good times...

I've scolded my Norwegian friends that have visited New York and Miami and think they've got the gist of the entire US. LOL. My Norwegian son came over for a summer and he and my US son drove my Jeep Cherokee from MD to Key West to Sand Diego and a meandering route back east. The two of them have seen more of this country than I have!

I was here in 1978 when parts of it was still under construction. Pretty nice place, unless you almost get snatched by a grown man in his underwear. I was able to fight him off and flee.
