Well, for what it's worth, I think you are good to go. I'll see you in heaven. I would never tell another Christian something like that. I believe you though.

Am I going to heaven, Highlander? :buddies:

Thank you. That is exactly my point. Children will threaten to report you and so parents do nothing to correct their kids and they turn out to be monsters.

My kids tried that a few times, I said give me the phone I'll call myself. I am always reminding them my household is a dictatorship not a democracy and they don't get a vote.

Thats right. I used to tell my kids they have to come back home sooner or later. I can count on 1 hand the times I would spank my 2 kids. I had to some time. But not often. My son only once. My daughter was a little more challenging. But both are good kids. Well she is 21 and my son is 17. A few spankings in their life made them good respectful people today.

I worked with a guy in who was in the Foodlion in LP about 10 years ago. One of his children was acting up in the store and he gave his son a smack on the butt. Some women called the police on him right away and said he was abusing his son. CPS took his kids away. He had to take parenting classes, anger managment classes and it took a few months for him to get his kids back. CHILDREN KNOW WHAT THE LAWS ARE AND WILL THREATEN ALL THE TIME TO CALL THE POLICE OVER DUMB STUFF AND PARENTS GET SCARED. SO DON'T TELL ME I AM FULL OF CRAP. CHILDREN NEED TO GROW WITH THE RULES OF THE 1980'S. YOU SCREW UP WHILE PLAYING, YOU WILL BE SORRY WHEN YOU GET HOME. I THINK ALL OF YOU WHO GREW UP IN THE 80'S KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. LIFE WAS FUN BACK THEN. IT WAS SAFE TO PLAY AND WE KNEW WHAT NOT TO DO.

What are the laws? There is NO LAW AGAINST SMACKING YOUR CHILD ON THE BUTT!!!!!!

PM me the name. You are either lying or sadly mistaken. The difference between you and I, is I see these cases each day, and I KNOW first hand who gets arrested for what! NO PARENT GETS THEIR KIDS TAKEN AWAY FOR SIMPLY SMACKING THEIR CHILD ON THE BUTT!!!!!!!

Have you ever been arrested for hitting your child? I know the answer, no. I love these people who try to perpatuate the rumor that the police or social services will take kids away for normal child discipline. It doesn't happen.

First, social services doesn't have the budget to take the kids they need to take away, let alone the kids who are with good parents!

I was thinking the same thing -- there's more to that than the poster's saying.

I really don't think even spankings are required to properly discipline children. I was very successfully disciplined by having my nose on the wall for time out. I wasn't allowed to sit, slouch, put my shoulders on the wall, or lean my head against it. Just my nose. I would cry and cry and cry, and finally when my parents were satisfied with my level of upset over the punishment in perspective to the mistake, I was allowed to leave. I don't know much of the story from there, but I was probably sent to my room. They got some laughs out of the fact that my tears and face got all white from the whitewashed walls

I was allowed one hour of television of my choosing a day, only more if it was educational. It was taken away for a period of time if I did something wrong. I was grounded. For real, not like parents do now. I couldn't watch tv, talk on the phone, play with my favorite toys (if any), or hang out with my friends.

I was taught manners by my parents using please, thank you, you're welcome, et cetera with me. I was taught respect the same way. At such a young age your parents are your biggest influence and I appreciate the way mine brought me up.

A funny one... when I would throw temper tantrums in the car, my mom would pull over and smoke a cigarette on the hood and completely ignore me until I got the Hell over it. I love my parents. And they did it all without spankings. But I wouldn't have made a big deal over a slap on the wrist anyways. It's not like it would mentally scar me.

I can picture this. :lmao:

And if it was in the house she did the same thing... locked herself in the bathroom though.

She was good. She didn't put up with my crap. I'll be taking a few of my parents' techniques when the time comes.

I'm saying you were awesome! You always disciplined me appropriately, and sufficiently without spanking my butt. You taught me nice words like please and thank you by using them with me. You were always there for me when the other kids were mean because their parents didn't do as good a job as you did teaching me to behave. I love you, mom! :huggy:

or are you just making fun of my temper tantrums?

Nah. They didn't last that long. You didn't like it when I locked myself in the bathroom. :lmao:

You weren't the worst little girl in the world. In fact, you've always been a pretty good kid. You had your moments, but few and far between.

You can hate me all you want, but you're gonna' do it from your room.
