It's an issue because 9 out of 10 people will probably think it's a satanic symbol.

Only the closed minded, ignorant and uneducated will think that. I HOPE that's not 9 out of 10.

Unfortunately it's the ones with the closed minds that usually have the biggest mouths.

You are so right..so many fear the old ways and have no idea how many of todays practices, icons, statues, etc ( christian that is) were taken, altered, adulterated, stolen from the old ways..in my case, those of the ancient celtic people...aka pagan...
Blessed Be all who still follow the ancient ways...

I don't practice any religion, and I don't know much about "ancient" ways. I practice a craft as just that, a craft, an art or science. It's what I do. Not what I believe.

Still.........

I wish freedom of religion applied to all religions. Not just the ones considered "mainstream."

IMHO the average person thinks of the Wiccan religion as a form of witchcraft-words such as high priestess, pentacle, magical or mystical all foster that concept. Must be some truth to their "powers" only 11 families nationwide were involved in this lawsuit! :eyebrow:

I aways thought the Wiccans believed they were one with the earth.

not real sure exactly what Wiccans are all about, but I dont recall ever hearing about them killing people in their religions name, or disrupting a funeral in their religions name.

Im glad they get their symbol on their graves now. only seems fair.

besides, its going to make it much easier for God to seperate us after death.

All I know is that when I die, somebody better sacrifice a virgin in my honor.

 That reminds me of what Eurpides wrote about the fall of Troy - the ghost of Achilles demanded that the princess Polyxena be sacrified on his grave.

It's interesting that Atheism and Humanism were recognized before the Wiccans were.

I wonder who designed or chose the Atheist symbol? I think it's odd-looking, since atheists don't worship the atom. (I heard there was a three-way schism between the Protonians, the Electronites and the Neutronians.)

Yeah, one would assume that the symbol for atheism would be no symbol at all. Then, perhaps, displaying nothing could be a copywrite infringement.

Wow... a lot of contradictions here. So you practice what you don't believe? You don't have faith in the "craft" as it was intended? For instance casting spells.

If it's not a religion to you then why would you be concerned whether it was included in with freedom of religion?

My partner is a Taoist... His dog tags reflected it and had he stayed in the military he would have been buried under a Taoism headstone. They are pretty open minded.

Just as there are many different sects of chrisitanity, i am sure it is similar with wicca. Also, just as 2ndA doesn't speak for all christians, i doubt MM speaks for all wiccan.

No, you are right-MM doesn't speak for all wiccan, she speaks for herself. And what she said is:

Which is a bit contradictory and supports my earlier statement that wiccan is no religion at all but rather a club or trade union of sorts.
