If you go to the links i posted earlier (refuting your Wiccan isnt a religion) you'll find all sorts of things they believe in
All sorts of things indeed. I told you, I already read all of that. And it certainly does not help. Apparently a wiccan can, but does not have to, believe in some deity. This deity could be, but does not have to be, called "The All" or "The One." Their deity (or lack thereof) could be male and/or female, whom they can call the God and/or the Goddess. Sometimes, they commune with "The Goddess" or "The God." Other times, they link with specific Pagan deities from the past. Instead of "the Goddess," they might relate to Athena, Brigit, Ceridwen, Diana, Hecate, Ishtar, Isis, Venus, etc. In place of "The God" they may link to Adonis, Apollo, Dionysus, Odin, Osiris, Pan, Thor, Zeus, etc.
They also are "Earth based" which means that they like and respect nature and believe that they are part of the Earth.

So, as a Christian who respects the environment I could be considered a Wiccan?

It just seems like the beliefs of wicca are such a loose collection that "to me" it has very little to do with the idea of religion.

Now you're just being ridiculous. Of course not.

Funny. I feel like this about most organized religions. Doesn't mean they aren't religions.

Have I told you lately how much I love you??

I'm on my way to work..... If you love me, you could copy and paste my post to Foxhound about paganism and Wicca so I don't have to rewrite the whole thing...

As for God providing all the necessary cures for our ailments, I'm sure the mother would contest that MEN aren't the creators of anything but war and bras, whereas she is the creator of everything valuable:diva:

I don't practice any religion, and I don't know much about "ancient" ways. I practice a craft as just that, a craft, an art or science. It's what I do. Not what I believe.

Still.........

I wish freedom of religion applied to all religions. Not just the ones considered "mainstream."
What you practice isn't a science. :yay:

I don't think my questions are ridiculous, what I think is ridiculous is a religious symbol for atheism.

If you feel that Christianity is a loose collection of beliefs you could simply refer to the Nicene Creed or Apostles Creed and you will have all of the fundamental beliefs of Christianity. Judaism is even simpler. The stuff that might seem confusing (or "funny" as you say) about these religions is the extra junk that men add onto this simple belief system. The differences in the junk are what constitute the different denominations of Christianity. Serious conscientious Christians will tell you that the difference between Catholic, Episcopal and Baptist is virtually inconsequential. All the important stuff is in the Creed.

I don't know the answer to this, so I am asking those who know...

I understand that when one enlists, there is a box to check that asks religion. And everyone checks it in the most non-troublesome manner. (Heyyy, I'm a Christian!) Because, lets face it, if you check the 'muslim' or 'wiccan' box you and yours are going to be swarmed by NCIS and the like. Your path to any sort of a clearance will be hampered.

But when it gets right down to it, you just might die while in duty to your country. Happens all the time. Is there any box to check for what should be on your gravestone?

That's a serious question. I know folks out there know the answer.

Personally, all I would need is name, DOB, DOD, and USA. But that's just me. (Make my grave marker and coffin wood, so they are biodegradable. Just like me.)

From the VA website:
When burial or memorialization is in a national, military post, or state veterans cemetery, cemetery staff will order a headstone or marker, using inscription information provided by the next of kin.

When burial is in a private cemetery, VA Form 40-1330, Application for Standard Government Headstone or Marker , must be submitted, along with a copy of the veteran's military discharge documents .
If you do not have next of kin or a will stating your preference, they would go to your chain of command and service record to try to determine your wishes.

Do have any evidence that that has happened? Why would Wiccans be considered security risks? I might understand if NCIS viewed Muslim soldiers as security risks, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of there being Muslims in America who are patriotic enough to risk their lives to defend America.

I marked "No Religious Preference" to the chagrin of my father. I've known Muslims with secret and Top Secret clearences so while there might be an extra look for muslims, it doesn't really stop anything.

a guy down the hall here has a secrect and took a pilgrimage to Mecca last year, as far as i know it didn't have any affect on his clearence. I guess the GOV realizes that islam is a protected religion just like the rest of them.

Researched it and it seems the Mormons created this separation on purpose. Their differences are what attract new members. Cool.
