Well today 45 GOP Senators were calling for the impeachment trial to be halted, declaring it unconstitutional. We already have the Chief Justice declining to preside on the grounds that constitutionally - he is empowered to preside over the impeachment trial of a SITTING President and not a former one.
So - kind of going with the idea the Dems WON'T get the 17 Republican Senators to convict.
Now - if you were the Democratic Party - and you were going to spend the next couple months trying to convict a man who is not going to be convicted - what is the intelligent thing to do, in lieu of the fact that DOING it will waste a crap ton of good will?

The plan started the day Trump lost the election. They worked behind the scenes to coordinate it with Trump and the GOP donating money to fund it.
Do you remember 2016 when Trump and Stone started #stopthesteal in anticipation of Trumps loss? Then they quickly dropped it once he won.
The revived it in November of this year and used uneducated rubes to carry out the attack on the capitol.

Let me you in on a secret... I wasn't there. I didn't go to the rally, let alone the Capitol riot. I am on record, multiple times, of condemning the attack. What I am NOT going to do is blame a guy that called for those people to PEACEFULLY go to the Capitol and send congress a message of how unhappy they are with the results. There is nothing illegal about believing the election results were fraudulent, even if that belief is wrong. There was nothing illegal about Trump making the same claim, while disparaging a media that went on a 4 year rampage to disparage Trump and the people that voted for him. The whole thing just fits into the leftist narrative that anyone opposing your thinking is evil and needs to eradicated/deprogrammed from this country.
Your photo proves nothing! It shows a Capitol Police officer laying on the floor. Again, you have yet to produce one single source that stated Sicknick was stomped to death. And, quite honestly, I don't even give a damn about your "stomped to death" bull#### anymore. Sicknick is dead as a result of being struck in the head with a fire extinguisher; and that is tragic enough for me. I don't need to add bull#### to it to make his death seem more tragic. What I see is a still photo of a police officer laying on the floor with a bunch of people around him. We don't even know if that's Sicknick. We don't even know if those people are trying to help him. It's a still photo that gives absolutely no context of what's really going on.

I never claimed any of the peaceful protestors did anything illegal.
I blamed the people providing them with false information.
Just as Trump knew Coronavirus was more deadly than he told the public and admitted as much on tape.
He knew that the election results were fair and accurate. He still attempted to overturn them in multiple ways and continued to lie to his supporters. This lie was the root cause of the violence.
If at any point in his presidency Trump had stood up and taken responsibility we wouldn't be here.
Had he been honest with Americans about he coronavirus he probably would have been reelected.
Had he been honest and admitted he lost the election fair and square no one would have died at the capitol that day.
