My jaw was swollen like a chimpmunk and I had two black eyes. Still doesn't compare to labor and child birth, and my whoo ha was more swollen after birth. :roflmao:

I want to know what you COULD open your jaw for :faint:

I'v been known to swell a few whoo ha's in my day :puffsupchestandstrutsaround:

But since then, they've made it illegal to use a baseball bat on a woman :ohwell:

They have been bothering me since I was about 19 and I... I just can't take it anymore. :cds:

I just don't handle mouth pain very well ....Do they give you something for the pain? :frown:
They can't use pain meds for wisdom tooth extraction. You have to psych yourself up for the pain. He'll give you a tennis ball to squeeze. I popped the ball when he started drilling.

The real pain subsides in about 5 days with it totally gone in about 3 weeks.

WR it's not a big deal. :huggy: Once they're out you'll be wishing you had them removed much earlier.

My experience: I had 5 pulled, one of which was completely sideways (the extra one) and right up against a nerve. My dentist gave me a referral and told me I would want to be knocked out because they were going to be digging around in there and nobody wants to be awake for that. My oral surgeon was great and the recovery wasn't that bad. I didn't have much pain - I was given oxycotin or vicodin or something but I didn't take it because Advil worked just fine (I do have a high tolerance for pain, but I remember it being more of an annoyance than an OUCH). I felt much better the next day, after the loopiness from the anesthesia had worn off. I did have a dry socket but he gave me great instructions (if it starts hurting worse after it's started getting better, get your butt back into the office) so it got treated ASAP and never got really bad. It's easy peasy.

I'm going to die!!!! :jameo:

suck it up and get them out. Geeze, it's not that bad. You'll be just fine in a few days. Trust me, I've had splinters hurt longer and more than my wisdom teeth coming out, and all 4 were impacted and had to be broken in half just to get them out. I still remember the sound of them crunching them in half :jameo: Who cares if it'll look like you gained 50 pounds over night with your chipmunk cheeks. Everyone already knows your man doesn't leave bruises on your face, he hides them under clothing :faint: Sure you'll look like hell for a week or two :tantrum: Suck it up buttercup.

I'm just kidding. It's really not that bad  Well except for the other stuff I already mentioned.

I got mine done on a Friday at 9am.

By 12 noon I was up, and cleaning.

That night I went to Budds Creek to watch Midnight Madness.

Next day I went to a chinese buffet.

Just don't get dry sockets, and you'll be fine. They gave me 15 percocets, and I only took 2.

i had my wisdom teeth out on my 21st birthday...worst birthday present ever...yes they do give you stuff for pain don't listen to baja. all mine were impacted so i also got the chipmonk cheeks and nice bruises but they went away with in a few days so its not that bad. all i had the first day was icecream and a milkshake which i had to eat with a spoon as they don't want you sucking through a straw til its all healed (about 3 weeks or so) I had my teeth out on a wednesday and was back to work on monday even though it still hurt me some. went to work on soft foods and did that for another 2 weeks due to the craters i had in my mouth from there cutting my teeth out.

Also, you can go to the pharmacy (or ask your oral surgeon if you remember) and get some syringes (with a curved tip if possible). They should just give them to you for free. You can use that to irrigate your holes (nasty nasty) GENTLY with warm salt water.

not impressed
Don't forget to wear adult diapers before the you go under. If you don't want to wear one make sure you take a laxitive 36 hours before and bring a change of clothes just in case.

I work for an Oral Surgeon, and as long as you follow all instructions, you will be fine. Motrin works the best for pain, as long as you aren't allergic. But we give good meds for the first few days. It's best that you get those teeth out ASAP, because they might be pushing up on to the Teeth up front. If it continues, you can get Cavities on them, and THEY might have to be pulled, or at least worked on. Good luck to you!!
