Wisdom Teeth Extraction

You will be tooooo drugged up to sweep the spiders from your face...:jameo:

I am more scared of the recovery than I am of the procedure. The teeth have been hurting so bad so they gave me vicodin but said :nono: "you will not get more of these after surgery so I would suggest saving some." She gave me 16 two weeks ago... I have 10 left. :jameo: Will that be enough?!?!?

It's weird that they won't give you more but you'll be fine. If they're bothering you now chances are you'll actually feel better once they're out (aside from the discomfort of the swelling and the sockets and all that). Yeah you'll be in pain but 800mg of Ibuprofen will probably be fine. Or do you have a really low tolerance for pain?

Dr. Neal A Zabiegalski in Lex Park. Across the street from the Old Roost on South Shaingra-La. Will put you to sleep with a general (IV). The ONLY way to get a tooth pulled IMHO!/QUOTE]

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, the doc asked me, 'do you want to be awake for this?'
An emphatic 'Heeeeck No!' was my reply.

The tough part was the 'hit with a treeful of baseball bats' feeling that came after the drugs wore off.
After it went away a couple days later, it wasn't so bad.
They gave me a script for Percocet, but I never used it; I was a Tylenol takin' fool though.....

Definitely going with sedation... but the recovery is what scares me. :frown:
In all seriousness, dozens of teens go through this process weekly and some go right back to school the very next day if it's done early in the week... why are you expecting this to be major surgery with major recovery?

Because I had such complications when I had a c-section. :killingme

I don't think my body handles surgery/recovery very well.

There is a big difference between cutting out your wisdom teeth and being sliced in half and having a babe ripped from your gut... I'm not sure you can expect the same complications...:eyebrow:

:smack: This is scary times. :jameo:

You can do this Momma! You grew a human being inside of you, then had your stomach sliced open to have him removed.

Honestly though, I had mine removed years ago (when I still lived at home)...it wasn't that bad. They gave me something to take the morning of to help relax me (seems you should probably ask about that), then gave me gas before giving me general anesthesia. The next thing I knew I was stumbling out of the office with my Mom and then boyfriend (now hubby ). I don't remember the drive home and I slept all day and night (waking only to eat and take my meds when my Mom woke me up). I had chipmunk cheeks and was sore for a few days, nothing terrible.

Again, you can do this!

Been there. Done that myself. When asked if I wanted to be awake for the procedure, my answer was an emphatic 'Heeeck No!' The standing upright when I came to was a trick. The nurse, about 1/2 my size catches me and says, 'you might want to sit for a few minutes before trying that agian.'

They gave me a script for Percocet; which I didn't use. Instead, I took Extra Strength Tylenol to deal with the 'hit with a treeful of baseball bats' feeling and slept all weekend except to rinse with hot salt water.
