I do. :howdy: We get lots of spiders in the spring, ours are usually random brown ones. As a matter of fact, the kitty caught a really big one in the kitchen this afternoon.

We had a banana spider (I think that's what it was) in our backyard last year, it built a big web and just kinda hung out. It was huge! :faint: I don't know how long they live, but I wouldn't mind seeing it again this year.

Edit to add that I googled banana spider, and ours wasn't a banana spider. Whatever it was, Dustin said it was harmless, and it was big with a little yellow squiggly on it's back.
that is called a garden spider....it spins a web strong enough to catch a bird, however it also spins a squiggly line in it's web to detour said bird

......
Wolf spiders like to burrow in the ground. No webs. Had one under the house. I knew where he was, but he scared the crap out of the plumber. I had to kill it before the plumber would go under the house and fix stuff. Pumped about a gal of Malathion down his hole. Never saw him again. Now I throw 2 bug bombs under the house every Spring and Summer. Oh, forgot to mention, these things make a noise that will definitely get your attention. That's what got the plumbers attention. :lmao:

When in Guam never walk down an unfamiliar path at night with no light. I ran into a spider web that actually stopped me! Being unafraid of spiders as I am, I turned and got the heck out of there and used the restroom.

I usually just pick them up by hand and let them go outside. They are quite docile as long as you're calm.
CALM????????????????? :jameo: I have faced guns, outta control dope heads, speeding cars, snarlin dogs-but spiders-holy sheet! :war:

It was an Argiope.
if you look at the web you will find that there is a heavy zig zag pattern below center. not sure what this means, I have read that they add a zig or zag every year, but Im not sure if its true.
the spiders are usally a yellow with black markings... and big.

I run from these, even though I know they are harmless.

At least that is what I think they are....big hairy and nasty. I swear my apartment is clean enough to eat off the floor and these nasty spiders make their way in. I have seen two today and I am a complete arachniphobe! Hubby managed to get one with my flip flop..and the other escaped; into God knows where. Does anyone else have this problem?
Did it look like this? :peace:

Few years back there was a few of us playing cards on the back porch of the house, I went out to the shed to turn on the yard light and when I opened the door there was a wolf spider about the size of my fist on the inside of the door,, about 1 inch from my face.
I think I did a double back flip off the shed steps, and at the same time I was awarded the scream like a beatch award by my card playing friends.

the light was not turned on that evening.

About a year after that, the water in the house stopped working, so I had to venture into the basement of the shed to fix the pressure tank switch.

I opened the door to the basement and looked down, there was thousands of wolf spiders climbing all over the walls. Being a man, I first thought of my wife and young daughter, so I went in and told my wife that I did everything I could, take the kid to the grandparents and Ill call if we ever get water back.
once they were gone, I went down and bought a couple,, ok, 5 bug bombs. The basement area of the shed is about 10ftX6ft with a 7ft ceiling.
I tossed all 5 bug bombs into the basement and ran like hell.

two hours later I went back and was able to get the water back on.
come to think of it,, hasnt been too many spiders in there ever since.

No
You're the only person on the planet that is afraid of a small bug. The term arachniphobe was only theoretical until you announced your fear

I would have told them to pack up --- we're moving. :lmao:

I HATE spiders. They can all die a miserable death as far as I'm concerned.

:nono: they eat the bugs that like to eat me.

Spiders good :yay:

... and if you've got kids, you can let them walk in front of you to find the webs.

not sure about that, but I do know that if you are riding the C&O canal on bikes, in the morning you need to get the other guy to ride in front to break the webs for you.

not that I would do such a thing.

by the way,, anyone seen foxhound lately?

:roflmao: I'm pretty sure the problem she was referring to was the spiders in the house...not the fear of them.

I didn't get a picture but last Spring.. about the time of the Memorial Day picnic.. the entire end of our house was covered with spiders. Not exaggerating, there wasn't one square inch of the siding that didn't have a spider in it.

They would extend their back legs, spin a little silk, and when the breeze picked up it would snatch them fromthe house and send them on their way. Hopefully they stayed aloft for a LONG time, because the breeze that day (I think) was sending them towards NitWhit's house!
