LONDON (Reuters) - A woman has been ordered by police to take down a sign on her garden gate which read "Our dogs are fed on Jehovah's Witnesses."

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Pensioner Janet Grove, who owns a Jack Terrier puppy called Rabbit, insisted the sign was a gentle joke to discourage callers at her front door.

Her late husband put the sign up more than 30 years ago when members of the church called at their house on Christmas Day.

But police were forced to act after receiving a complaint.

"We were informed by a member of the public who found the sign to be distressing, offensive and inappropriate," a police spokesman said. "Officers attended the address and the sign was voluntarily taken down."

What a brilliant idea! I should call the police every time someone offends or distresses ME!

saying your not interested is just too hard for some folk.

That sign is highly offensive.

It's really offensive when these people continually knock on your door, even after you've told them you're not interested.

Their only doing what Jesus did and told them to do....

I dont see how trying to save ones life is offensive.

I'm thinking you could put up a sign that says "Our Lions have a strict Christian diet"
or a person of 'color' could have a sign that says "Our pets only eat white meat, off of live white people", either would be ok and considered free speech as white people and
Christians are not considered minorities.

How about, private property...stay the eff off! How about, respect my wishes? How about, I'm already involved in another church, raised another religion, or don't believe in your effin fantasy?

Well the "Christain" like thing to say is "im not interested." Not put up a sign like that.

But if one was really a christian you would respect what it is they do because after all you as a "christian" are suppose to "spread the word."

I wonder why Mormons dont have the problems JW do?

Not everyone is a Christian. I have no problem with Christians "spreading the word" but if I tell them I am not interested I expect them to respect that. That includes coming uninvited and trespassing onto my property. There is nothing that gives them the right to do that. I have repeatedly told them not to return and they still continue to come to my house.

I have never had a Mormon come to my house like the Jehovah's Witnesses do. Never.

Kinda reminds me of a couple of Jehovahs that drove right past my no tresspassing and beware of dog signs up 300 feet of driveway to land on my porch. All was well until my 90lb black lab woke up...sleeping under the porch and had the Jehovahs plastered against my front door. The dear dog was snarling and barking with teeth bared....very convincing ! Needless to say the Jehovites carried their asses back to their car in a flash when I collared the dog. GOOD DOG ! An extra biscuit for you girl. Nothing against people who want to spread the word but you really need to pay attention to people privacy. I have not been bothered since.

Well, I'm not a christian, so they, and you, can bite my azz.

effin one way. I'm supposed to respect them, but they don't need to respect me.

For once I have to side with the unwashed heathens.

Trying to save lives is not offensive per se. However, intruding on someone's private property, unsolicited and uninvited is very much like telemarketing - which I find extremely intrusive and offensive. If someone wants to preach the word, then by all means, go downtown with a sammich board and a bell and preach the Word. That's what "public" was invented for.

But when I'm trying to have dinner or play with my kids, I need neither telemarketers nor proselytizers busting my chops.

That's what "private" was invented for.

As for that sign, it was on private property. Unless it's a depiction of graphic violence or pr0n or something along those likes, it's noboby's business what sign they put up.

"No soliciting" gets the message across. But "Fed to the dogs" is funny.

And it's nowhere near as offensive as driving somewhere and having my 4 year old ask me "What are all those crosses for daddy?"

I've read the bible cover to cover.

I have yet to find the passage where Jesus encouraged disturbing people in their homes.

There are plenty of other ways to spread the word. Trying to live a good life and be an example for others is one way. And interestingly enough, it doesn't piss anyone off when you do that.

If you've read the bible from cover to cover than you'll know in the Gospel how much Jesus was mocked and laughed at for the word he preached yet continued to do so no matter how much ridicule he faced. Sounds just like these JW's.

Who said the word of God would come at a "convienant" time for you??
Do you go door to do to preach or do you just speak about God and his word when its suitable for you???

Do I like when mormons and baptists invite me to their church and try to teach me their "way"?? NO. But I listen...out of respect. After all, we all love and worship the same God - dont we??

Please point me to the passage where Jesus knocked on doors for the purpose of preaching and proselytizing.

I'll save you the trouble: It ain't in there.

I speak about God and his word when the opportunity presents itself. I do not hound people, nor do I disturb people who are busy or otherwise occupied.

I most definitely do not go door to door. Nor do I have any special respect those who do.

I guess that depends on the scope of "we".
