More specifically the id is responsible for our basic drives such as food, sex and aggressive impulses, and demands immediate satisfaction. It is amoral and egocentric, ruled by the pleasure-pain principle; it is without a sense of time; completely illogical; primarily sexual; infantile in its emotional development; will not take 'no' for an answer.

I don't think it was a compliment.

I know the etymology for idiot does not relate to id, but they seem related in that they are "without a sense of time; completely illogical; infantile in its emotional development; will not take 'no' for an answer." The only difference I see primarily is "primarily sexual." So, JPC seem to rely heavily on his id.

I still dont think he understands what it means, but what can you expect from someone who doesn't think they need to support their children and that no children in this country go with out anything as a result of deadbeats?

Usually we all react to our id first. Most of what I think in response to others is triggered by id. When we make an effort to consider others feelings and look at other people as more important than our selves we can begin to put id in its place. Freud and the Bible are not that opposed.

:jameo: I agree that it was not given as a "compliment" but as an alternative to being evil -

- and at that I still say the "AMEN" to that interpretation. :larry:
