    Old Helen Post Office

There are no signs on any of the properties to indicate they're for sale, or even condemned. But they've all been empty for quite a while and it makes me wonder what's going on there, if anything. Just idle curiosity...

    Old Helen Post Office

No. you're thinking or the old Morganza post office that's now a store for local artisans and farmers and such. The two houses there are occupied. The old Helen PO is just north of Margaret Brent Middle school, next to Hill's Store.

    Old Helen Post Office

Does anyone know if there are any plans for the little island that contains the old Helen post office and 2 abandoned houses? My awesome google-fu skillz have turned up nothing. No, I don't want to buy the property. Just curious. :D

    Anticipation ...

After 37 years with the gummint, this is my first winter storm as a contractor, and I'm feeling like a second-class citizen. Doing my best to avoid burning my meager leave hours - we shall see how that goes.

    Smow?

If there is any appreciable accumulation, I hope the guy who plowed my driveway last year shows up again this year. I can't believe I forgot to get his name and number. I can shovel myself, but I don't want to. Sometimes the best tool for the job is cold, hard cash. We shall see...

    Pizza delivery people

Guess I'm an anomaly - I order on line and pay by credit card, but I have the tip ready in cash. In fact, if I don't have enough cash for a tip, I just don't order. But the amount the delivery person gets is predetermined, so unless the delivery person is a total jerk, he/she will get tipped -...

    Breakfast places?

We have breakfast at the cafe in Leonardtown frequently and we enjoy it. I'm a fan of the sweet potato pancakes, and I've liked all the omelets I've gotten also. My husband likes the buffet. I think it's a nice place, and everyone there has always been friendly.

Impossible to find a primary care provider?

My initial guesses would be that the money to be made in medicine is in the specialties, not family practice. If you look at the table about a quarter of the way down this page, you'll see that family practice and internal medicine average $58/hour - the lowest calculated of the specialties...

    Cracker Barrel

Linda's in Lex Park? Went there once and was not impressed at all. Not familiar with Charlie's.

    Cracker Barrel

I'd like to see another place to have breakfast in the California area - our weekend routine includes breakfast out. I don't like IHOP, and I'm pretty sick of Bob Evans. Lenny's buffet is OK, but not every weekend. The cafe in Leonardtown isn't bad once in a while. A good old-fashioned diner...

    You Haz Interwebz?

I'm in 20659 and I have the Metrocast VIP bundle for TV, phone, and internet. The only problems I've had have been from my wireless router. I've had the service (minus phone) for 7 years and I think we got the bundle with phone a year or 2 ago. We've had the TV and up to 3 computers running...

    SMOW totals

We're in FL right now and we'll be driving back to the Mechanicsville area tomorrow. Any idea what 301 is like in Virginia and into Charles county? From what I've read on a couple of sites, the accumulation seemed to stay east of the Bay. Weather aside, I'll be glad to get home. I hate...

    Be careful out there

I wish I'd grabbed a gallon of milk yesterday. We're almost out, and no one bothered to tell me. I avoided the stores in order to not be one of those pre-storm crazy people. Oh well, we'll have to eat our cereal dry, I guess.

    Abandoned well

Hey - the folks we bought the house from left us 2 painted tractor tires in the back yard - maybe we can move them around to the well in front. Now I'm sorry I gave away the concrete deer and the birdbath and the red windmill...

    Abandoned well

It's got a big concrete cover over it - I know I can't move it, so I doubt some random kid is going to. Believe it or not, I'm smart enough not to leave a huge, deep hole open in my yard.
