Hi ladies,

Just jumping in on your thread here, sympathizing about the cost of kids clothes. My kids (7&10) still love to shop at Old Navy and I just thought I would share that they are having their Stuff & Save sale for the next couple of weeks. You can get 20% off everything (including sale prices) online -- the only catch is you have to have one of their credit cards. Just thought I would share, as I love to do my kids shopping there during this time. Oh, yeah the code you need at checkout is STUFFSAVE. Check it out at https://secure.www.oldnavy.com/prof...=onembm710&ev=OGR842008&di=8515183&cd=ONC_OAC

You can shop in store too but you usually have to have a special bag with a code on it that they mail you if you are a cardholder. Hopes this helps some of you save a few bucks during this wonderful :)sarcasm:) school-shopping time!

Great, thanks for the info!

I told my daughter we are waiting until the weather gets cooler to go shopping for new jeans. She's in the middle of one heck of a growth spurt right now- I swear she's going to be out of petites by winter (at the ripe old age of 11). She has enough dress code appropriate capris and shorts for now. By the time we need jeans they'll all be on sale.

Oh and thrift store/yard sale/Marshalls/Ross/Target provide plenty of clothing choices for her.

My oldest is 15 and I have her trained..she only wants to shop at Ross or Marshall's because she knows she can get more for her money. BTW, I have found many hollister shirts for her in the thrift store in lex pk for 35 cents and she's completely happy to wear them. We just went to Ross a couple weeks ago and my three kids got 3 outfits a piece and I only spent $100. Why spend all that money for a dumb name across their chest? I will put out the money for good shoes so they will last but $40 for a t-shirt? No way!

Those of you spending the big$$$$$ on clothes....are you also saving for college? I think it's crazy to spend that kind of money for children's clothes..what are you teaching them? Put the money away for college.

Apparently you've never walked in a pair of Choo's.

Took the kiddos shopping today. Spent $120 on 3 outfits and a jacket at The Childrens Place for my 8 yr old. Not too bad...until my oldest (12) and I walk into Hollister, and spend $100 on 4 tshirts. Ugh! School shopping sucks.

$100 for 4 t-shirts?

I don't think it's your kids that are in need of an education...

What do you think is big money? $25 for a shirt?

Perhaps this quote is relevant?

Perhaps not. Kids' clothes are expensive now. Of course I am basing this statement on no personal experience; but my Brother and my Sister-In-Law have to clothe 4 kids; 10/9/8 and 2 years old. I don't know how the clothing cost scale goes though. Is it cheaper as the kids get older or more expensive as the kids get older?

My daughter doesn't outgrow clothes as much now (11) as when she was a toddler. When she was younger her clothes got ruined quicker, too. I usually splurge Christmas and birthdays and not year-round.

I bought two cute pairs of shoes the other day. I wore one pair today and they hurt my feet. :frown:

They need to be broken in. I have a few cute pairs like that. My kids laugh at me when I wear my boxers and tee shirt with heels around the house.

I'm just glad I brought another pair with me because I just KNEW they'd hurt. I switched about 10 am.

When kids become teen agers the clothes cost way more.....my girls wore a lot of hand me downs and they loved going to yard sales because they would get to buy really cool stuff for really cheap. They never seemed to mind.
But with my 12yr old son, boy clothes at yard sales are really hard to find and I don't get hand me downs...they just wear their stuff out really bad.

I don't necessarily hit yard sales and such anymore, but I do hit major clearances to clean up! My daughter got a 60.00 purse at Penney's for 5.98! That's what I call a deal!
