If you read through the threads, you will find that I never called anyone a name until they called me a name.

This is so immature. You sound like a two-year old.

I think if you go back to the begining, you will see that I never call someone a name until they call me a name. I don't have any problem sinking to the level of someone like you.

I can argue with someone and not revert to name calling. Unlike you, just because I disagree with someone, doesn't mean I dislike them. You on the other hand, seem to have to have everyone share your opinion, otherwise you feel you have to call them names or denigrate them in some fashion.

You get riled up to easy. Take a deep breath, relax..Ok, now I don't care if you agree or disagree with me I still do not like you. That is pretty simple huh? You are right I called you and idiot and a dumba$$. But then again that was not name calling, I was just being honest! Be carfeul and fair out there! :howdy:

That's my point, sunshine. If you let the :elaine:ing nincompoops on this board get to you to the point that you do, you must be a real winner out there on the street.

I think he was implying he has rank, and that likely YOU would be working for HIM if you two were in the same department.

Oh, I realize that, I guess I was really kinda wishing that he DID work for me, so I could make his a$$ miserable every night. Because he really doesn't seem to have the stones for the job.

Don, if you think that I really let people get to me, well that is kinda sad. Let me try and explain it to you. The reality is, I don't drink and to blow off steam I do three things. I spend time with people important to me. I exercise, and I come here to say things anonymously that I CAN'T say in REAL life, because of the very reason you think I shouldn't do it here. I have the utmost respect for the profession in which I am dedicated to. In real life, I know that I have to treat even the most deplorable people with respect, because that's what this country is based on. While I can determine probable cause that someone committed a crime, it isn't up to me to treat them in a fashion where I have already condemned them. I CAN'T abuse the authority entrusted to me by calling people names, or doing anything else that would bring discredit to my agency. (Notice I didn't say my authority. That's because it isn't mine, it's the people and they are just letting me borrow it.)

So my vice is coming on here and arguing with people. It makes me laugh. Sometimes, in the heat of things, I might call someone a name, I might even think they are jerks. But when this computer is turned off, I don't give anything written or read on here a second thought.

So Don, I appreciate the fact that you want me to behave a little better, but I am sorry I can't. I promise you however, when I put my badge on, and walk out the door, I conduct myself in a manner which would suit you fine!

Manslaughter? It seems to me this was a horrible accident. Certainly there should be some civil reprecussions, and at least the Sgt. should not be a Sgt. But jail for two people who went to do their job and made a mistake? How would jailing these people make it better for these parents. Why would the police be called to that scene anyway. It should have been animal control.

I have never been given any training, nor any officer I work with has been given any training in dealing with snakes.

Also, what would the federal prosecutors charge these guys with?
I agree it's a horrible accident, but don't you think the cops should suffer severe punishment?

On one condition. If ,and only if, he performed an act that was outside the parameters of his deadly force training. If what he did was authorized by his Department; then it is the department which must bear the brunt of the punishment. If he exceeded the scope of his training then he is completely (but not solely)liable and I would think a charge of involuntary manslaughter is in order.
