Advice please - It's that time

It's not doing to. It's doing for. Maybe that's the issue that is upsetting so many people? To me, an animal suffering that badly, we're talking mercy here. Certainly, you'd recognize there are horse people who putting the horse down would be worse than losing the cat. So, it's subjective, an individual thing but, we are talking about the same thing; ending the life of something you love and will miss and, as hard as it is, it's the right thing to do.

I get the distinction.... and trust me, the last horse we actually had the vet come out and put down did not give her enough and it was a struggle I never want to witness again. Pets I have taken to the vet have always gone quietly. Also, in this case the cat is eating, drinking, peeing, pooping and has had the growth for some time. So not so much and immediate animal is suffering greatly situation. It is a very individual thing and hard to be the one that makes that decision no matter how you look at it. Easier for most if it is at someone elses hand I would think.

You are awesome for having the courage to say that in the face of the lynch mob and thank you.

I respect YOUR choice.

Time and place for everything

I would say anyone reading the OP would know that you chose the wrong time and place

Fortunately, in todays age, we do have the means to put down a four legged member of the family in a gentler, more humane way then was offered 20 or 30 years ago. Animals today are thought of differently than when I was a child. My beloved dog Nikki, was 18 when I had her put down. I hoped more than anything that she would pass quietly at home on her bed with my husband and I with her. She didnt do that, but she told me, in so many actions and looks that she was ready to go. It broke my heart to take her to the vet and have her put to sleep, but she and I knew she was ready. There is no way I could've taken her out in the yard and put a bullet thru her head. At least this way, I could hold her and her last sight was me holding her. I still miss her very much, and I still cry thinking about her or seeing pictures of her. I mean, she was with me for 18 years, about the same time you raise a child before they leave home. I have comfort knowing that I did the most humane thing for her at the time. As pet owners, we all have to deal with this when the time comes. The only thing I can say is, do what feels right in your heart, rather its the vet or a bullet. I sympathize with anyone who has to make this decision and live with it. When the comes you'll know what to do and how to do it. Trust your heart.

I am still thinking about you, and please don't feel bad that you are ending your beloved kitty's life. I dreamed about my dogs, Oreo and Cookie, last night that were put down last year. It means that you love them so much, you are willing to do the right thing for them. My first kitty died at 21 (human years) in 1985. I hope you called Dr. Darnell; she loves your pet as much as you do. You will be ok; it just takes time. I did have both my dogs cremated and they are at home with me. I will do that for my cats too, when it is time. I wish I had done that for 21 year old Kitty, and that was her name, but I was younger at the time, and didn't think. The memories will make you very sad right now, but in time, the memories will make you very happy. Don't feel like you are playing God with your lovie; God is smiling on you that you have mercy, and are not being selfish. We would keep them with us forever, if we could. I hope this helps you. Double :huggy:

I did call Dr Darnell, and we had a 20 minute conversation and I swear she was crying with me. Pickle Bungee is going to be cremated and will hang out by the fire with her toy. I have been looking at baby pictures - big mistake! I think she senses something, she has been on my lap a lot tonight. She still looks so perfect that it breaks my heart. This has been the longest pet day on record. I really should go to bed, but that would end today, and would only leave tomorrow. I don't want tomorrow. She just sat up and meowed at me - night night all, kitty time x
