That may be true but a lot are still not pulling together for this 'tragedy'. No, they'd rather gain political ground somehow. 9/11 was worse IMO but we pulled together as American's and became one, not here not now.:ohwell:

What ya' mean by "a lot", BL? It takes time to pull these things together, and then you still may not hear about all the assistance that is rendered...unless you LOOK for it. The information will not just drop into your lap.

You speak much truth Elaine but I think we 'all' should pull together to help in a 'national' tragedy. I've heard a lot of leftist crap lately that is utterly disgusting.

Has anyone heard of corporate American offering any help yet? I'd hope that Carnival Cruise Lines could get a few cruise ships down there. What about the food industry, health care industry. I hope there are some performers, big name entertainers that will hold some benefit concerts.

Sometimes the best help is by donation. Charity is not something that is always advertised. Some people really do just want to help, without the attention.

We do. Our tax dollars go to fund FEMA and the other federal agencies that are now helping in the relief effort. Many companies are organizing internal relief drives to help out. Check out the Red Cross and see how many donations are pouring in. It just takes time to get the ball rolling and things organized, but I will guarantee the US will rally around the devastated areas and bring them back to life.

Ignore it like the rest of the drivel they spew. It is meaningless and hateful.

Just as I posted the above, I got an email from my company's president asking for donations for the hurricane relief. They also said they will match employee contributions up to a certain dollar. :yay:

I know The Home Depot made a 1 million dollar contribution to the Red Cross and asked if other companies would match it or do better. I haven't heard of anyone else but I'm sure there are more, I hope.

Well, considering we are the richest nation on Earth, we seem to have enough resources and manpower to handle this devastation ourselves. Asking Indonesia to help us would be like me going up to a homeless man on the street and asking for a few dollars for some food. Kind of an absurd thought, don't you think? Besides, while hurricane Katrina has truly been a terrible disaster for the people in the affected areas, it pales in comparison to the 200,000+ people that died in Indonesia last year.

MY GOD! I agree with you!!! Catch me while I faint :drama:

I heard that Exxon, Mobil, Chevron and Conoco are going to rebuild all the gas stations right away.

They should all be back up and online by Monday.

Prices will start at $4.50 per gallon.

A Fox News viewer contributed this:

"France has decided to send some of its military to assist the victims of Katrina. But when the order to deploy was issued, the troops surrendered."

I just found this at FoxNews - Companies give millions to Katrina relief effort:

Pharmaceutical companies rounded up much-needed medicine, water suppliers loaded trucks with thirst-quenching cargo and companies from petroleum giants to beer makers pitched in millions in cash and products Wednesday to help communities battered by Hurricane Katrina.

The efforts to collect money and goods to help the Gulf Coast rebuild gathered momentum Wednesday as officials continued assessing the damage from one of the nation's worst natural disasters.
...
In Indianapolis, drug maker Eli Lilly & Co. prepared to send 40,000 vials of refrigerated insulin to patients in the Southeast, along with at least $1 million in cash to the American Red Cross.
...
Drug maker Wyeth of Madison, N.J., planned to donate antibiotics and nonprescription pain relievers, health care giant Johnson & Johnson provided $250,000 worth of kits containing toothbrushes, soap and shampoo, as well as pallets of pain relievers and wound care supplies. Drug maker Merck & Co. planned to send antibiotics and hepatitis A vaccines to protect those facing contaminated waters.
...
Illinois-based pharmaceutical company Abbott Laboratories Inc. is giving $2 million cash and at least $2 million in nutritional and medical products.
Also mentioned were donations from Chevron, JPMorgan Chase & Co, Citigroup, Pfizer, State Farm, Walt Disney Co, Nissan, Anheuser-Busch, Sprint Nextel, Kellogg's, General Motors, and a whole host of others.

Corporate America is gearing up to help!

 I'm glad the big corporations are coming through. Community Relations -- the public is watching, the victims need it. It's a win-win!!!

Listening to Fox News now...

People are always guaranteed to never disappoint...and that's to become like animals in the face of crises.

Looting, pillaging Biloxi, usurping local authorities that are there to help and to serve. Mob mentality...

Gives new support to 2nd Amendment rights, doesn't it?

Amazing how everyone reverts to "self-support" mode when times get really bad. I'm amazed at what I am hearing...so much for being the greatest country on Earth.

:yikes: You are starting to scare me. You are starting to sound like a liberal. :bawl: I don't know why you are surprised, this happens every times the PO LEECE can't be breathing down the neck of the criminal element. Give it a few months and you'll see the stories of all the arrests of the looters. Don't you remember the riots out in California? All bold and looting on camera, just like they are now. Once all was settled down, police brutality was back in play and all was right with the world. :yay:
