People are always guaranteed to never disappoint...and that's to become like animals in the face of crises.

Looting, pillaging Biloxi, usurping local authorities that are there to help and to serve. Mob mentality...

Gives new support to 2nd Amendment rights, doesn't it?

Amazing how everyone reverts to "self-support" mode when times get really bad. I'm amazed at what I am hearing...so much for being the greatest country on Earth.
I by no means want to change this into a political debate over gun control but I don't think this would stop the looting and pillaging in Biloxi. Things are in such disarray and not like you might encounter in some towns in Arizona. I can see this working in the latter circumstance but here I don't really see it solving much.

:yikes: You are starting to scare me. You are starting to sound like a liberal. :bawl: I don't know why you are surprised, this happens every times the PO LEECE can't be breathing down the neck of the criminal element. Give it a few months and you'll see the stories of all the arrests of the looters. Don't you remember the riots out in California? All bold and looting on camera, just like they are now. Once all was settled down, police brutality was back in play and all was right with the world. :yay:
But this is not the criminal element. This is normal people accosting the "officials" (police, aid workers, etc), there to 'help'. This isn't LA after the Rodney King incident...

what is understanding is the Life looting trying to get supplies to live. I did like seeing the video of the cop pointing a shot gun at people stealing merchandise.

What have you been smoking? "Normal" people would have gotten the hell out of dodge as soon as they heard "category 5 hurricane". These are criminal element, low lifes. Don't believe the liberal hype. Looting occurs during every single disaster. It's not a new occurence and I have no idea why anyone is remotely shocked by it.

Fox just showed a women exclaiming why "day aint no water, no food, no help for us that needs it! Whats going on? Its like day forgot about us or something!"

I guess I had too much faith in Americans. I can't believe what I'm seeing and reading.....sorry.

I'll agree to that somewhat but...

What about that cop getting shot in the head? What about the childrens hospital? When was the last time rational people acted in this manner? Nevermind, don't answer that.:ohwell:

Oh for cryin out loud. :duh: When was the hurricane? A few days ago? This is not a third world country. Do you really think anyone is to the desperate point of having to "survive"?

I'm sorry, I've lived through a natural disaster, spent MONTHS with no running water, no electricity, all supplies were flown in because every single road was washed out. NO ONE looted to "survive", all looting was done by the already known criminal element looking to profit from someone else's misfortune.

They're doing it because they can. They know full well that the police have bigger things to deal with than their looting. They've always been criminals, they've merely been kept in check until now.

:yeahthat: TV's and PS2's looted from the Wal*Mart (along with all the guns and ammo) are not for survival. If they were stealing Little Debbie snack cakes and power aide I might give them a pass but cleaning out the CD rack is nothing but pure animal behavior.

"Day" shoulda got their stupid asses out of town before the category 4. What is it that you are losing faith in? I don't get it? Are you losing faith because day ain't no food and water to feed the idiots or that they are looting? I'm confused.

Don't lose that faith on just the few who are perpetuating it. The majority of Americans don't feel this is right, we SHOULD hold a higher regard for ourselves when it comes to this or...anything really. Why slide down the slippery slope and expect this sort of thing to happen, if you expect it to happen it will indeed happen. If the looters didn't have this thought in their head in the first place there would be no looting for meaningless objects at all.

My point was that it is indeed a 'every man/woman for themselves' situation where these people are. Having the gun laws or no gun laws at all wouldn't have stopped this in no way at all. People will fend for themselves in this time of desperation, they don't even need to think about it, it will come second nature-like.

I myself haven't figured out why people didn't get out when they were given a "mandatory evacuation." However, I just saw on the CNN or Fox that Texas is going to open the Astro Dome to the people who were staying in the Dome (sorry can't remember the name) that was destroyed. Least they will get meals, fresh water and A/C because it's farkin hot down here!

I'm losing faith in just what you've said....that these people choose to loot and plunder and leave the true victims with no options.

I actually feel no sorrow for Biloxi, for New Orleans, for none of them. I feel sorrow that victims or the displaced can sink to these levels. The World is watching this unfold, and the world ain't coming to help, ever. But those victims will never see that or know it. All they care about is the guvment coming to bail them out. Like always.

Steve-O, you're lumping so many people up into one pot. I cannot possibly imagine the majority of the citizens are in fact doing this.

I understand this point but who else will help them on a grandiose scale? Really.

Being a bit dramatic aren't we? I'm never surprised at the levels people sink to, I see it and live it every day. :ohwell:

Why wait for the world? You've got leave, you could always take off and do something to help the Katrina victims.

My real feelings?

1) We don't live in a third world country. Just about everyone has the means to communicate.

2) Those people chose to stay in Biloxi or New Orleans, and they are now paying the price for having done so.

3) 96% of people in this country are literate. Which means they are not totally stupid.

4) Justification of looting and robbing and SHOOTING help-givers (police, aid workers, etc.) is beyond me to comprehend.

I say...let them find their own way out. Fox just aired another woman saying "I live in the Projects! My apartment is washed out! When is the guvment coming to help me!"

Like I said..."I have lost faith in ALL people". No one is responsible any more. Uncle Sam will fix all problems. Ugh.

Well I suppose it boils down to gumption. If you have it you will survive, if you lay around in sewage water waiting for Uncle Sugar to come save you thats on them.

I have no desire to help them! They should be self-reliant, like I was, my family was, back in the ghetto. Boo!
