Alarm systems

Well, seems the convertible Sebring has an issue with the alarm. When I press the button in the a.m. to unlock it, SOMETIMES, the horn goes off and continues honking. In the beginning, I could get in the car and start the engine and it would stop honking. NOW, it will continue honking for a bit, say 20 seconds - long honk, not interrupted, then stop. Last time it stopped, it was fine UNTIL I got say 3 houses away and then it started again. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK. Stopped after a few houses. Today, it honnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnked, FINALLY stopped after say 30 seconds after I started it up. Got about a mile, doing 40 down 235 and honk, honk, honk for about 15 seconds...WTF? It's kind of embarassing. Any ideas? Looked in the manual and there are no instructions to dismantle it......

Does the remote have a 'panic' or horn button, and how perverted a sense of humor does your husband have??

It has a panic system and he's pretty perverted, but he is never home for the entertainment. Happens only on wet mornings and by "wet" I mean, dewey outside.

Put the key in the door and turn.

I have done that. Still sets it off. After purusing the manual, I opted to LOCK the door manually last night, which then would not activate the alarm system. So this a.m., out I go, hit the unlock button and HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK. I popped the trunk (because the manual says something about a trunk circuit, which probably has nothing to do with the "trunk," but I figured I'd give it a whirl) turned the car on, still honking, then hit the panic button and it finally stopped......

I have two remotes for the car. It happens with both of them. I wouldn't think the batteries for both would go bad at the same time.

:flowers: Sorry, couldn't resist. Seriously though, if you haven't already done so, check with a dealer or go online to Chrysler's web site. There may have been a recall at some time. Good Luck!

I will rip the horn out before I go to Park Dodge. They are idiots! I'll check the website. Thanks. It's an embarassing little problem. I have been flipped off more than once.

You'll have to ask Pete about my experience.

 I've been there... My Civic that I had in high school had an aftermarket alarm on it and it would randomly go off. Especially if it was rainy and I used the wipers. It was downright embarassing.

Hope you get the problem resolved quickly :flowers:
