It only takes twice as long if you don't know what you are doing. I like a quick getaway. Backing out, surround by the usual hulking SUVs I'm not seeing what is out there walking/driving towards me. Backing in, I have a clear view of all that foot and vehicle traffic.

I park off in the hinterlands to avoid the throngs of people who suddenly decide they need to congregate around my car as soon as I get into it to leave. The second I start my engine, that's when Mommy decides she needs to loiter behind or in front of me to tie her toddler's shoe, text her bestie, put her money back in her wallet, etc. That's when someone decides they need the spot across from me and will block my exit waiting for the current occupant to get their act together and vacate.

The extra walk is well worth not having to deal with that.

I do the same, for the exact same reasons. I would rather walk a few more steps, than to deal with all the parking lot drama.

It's only lots like Leonardtown CVS that cause any real parking problems for me. I will continue to back into spots in such places.

I do that too, but have still managed to get 4 dings in my new truck from asswipes who insist on parking right on top of mine.

I don't exactly remember where I went recently; somewhere in L.P.; I parked in a straight (vice angled) parking lot; between the lines, like you're supposed to. I go and do to come back to my car to find a land yacht parked ON the line next to the driver's side door. Dude was sitting there listening to some bass-laden music; evidenced not only by the sound; but the vibrating windows. I opened the door as far as I could without hitting his door and squeezed into my car, and drove away. Hind sight being 20/20, I should have gotten his undivided attention; ie a rap on a window.....or a brick through a window; and asked him where he learned to park.

So, those of you who do back in - can you explain why? I don't get it.

I have a big truck and the turning radius in not that great. It's very difficult to pull into a parking spot if there are vehicles on both sides, in front and behind. It is much easier to pull forward and back into the spot. Typically I back in. It is much easier for me.

Now I have a question. Do they not teach people how to use mirrors to back up in drivers ed anymore? It amazes me how many adults don't know how to back up a vehicle using side mirrors, rear view mirrors. Seriously? What do you do when you can't turn almost completely around in your seat to see behind you? I for one, can't see behind my vehicle without using mirrors.

I've been wondering about that too. I see it all the time. Not sure why they do it. It takes twice as long doing that than pulling in and backing out when leaving. So, those of you who do back in - can you explain why? I don't get it.

It is safer to back in, then back out. Most workplaces teach this and require this in company vehicles.

One should not have to "figure out" a cart system.

I agree, but they can't seem to figure out the regular ones either where they are supposed to return the cart to the designated area.

Here it is flat, but places that have parking lots on a hill it sucks having to dodge carts going 20 mph through the parking lot by themselves. Even if someone is too lazy to get their quarter back at Aldi someone else will jump at the chance for a quarter.

Someone did this to my college buddy once, we were coming out of burger king, he nicely asked them to move because he couldn't get into his car, and they refused so he took his full drink from Burger King and threw it right into their window.

Hit Aldis over the weekend (first time), and was pretty impressed by their selection of stuff. Got some vegetables, and some snacks for cheap! And, I didn't find the parking lot troubling, confusing, or irritating.

Its easily my new fave place. We also got our turkey there for thanksgiving (butterball) for a fairly decent 1.19 a lb, plus we used a big coupon we had effectively lowering the price by 10 dollars. So we got a good deal and we are satisfied. Their snacky type things are delicious. The almond milk was a TAD cheaper but just as good and my daughter loves the farmwood something brand laughing cow type cheese which was 1.79 vice the 2.50 I pay when I find a good sale. We got salad "stuff" Romaine, avocados, etc for cheap as well as a pretty tasty vinaigrette. Also got a turkey injector for 3 bucks.

No one told me I needed to bring my own bags. Got a good view of some very nice yoga pants while browsing too, made me want to buy a cantaloupe after that.

Milk bread and cheese are cheap, and worth the visit - but when I was there last, I got the last two loaves of regular sandwich wheat bread. The whole section had been cleaned out. People know their prices.
