How would you feel if your kid continuosly didn't pick up the phone for your scheduled calls?

He just may be the best father most kids would ever have, and even the best ones lose their tempers now and then.

...he sees her how often? Best father ever? I disagree.

I've lost my temper completely with the kids and it has yet to produce anything good except to motivate me to work harder to control it. I've yet to respond to anyone, ever, in a positive manner who lost their temper with me and I've yet to have anyone respond to me in a positive manner when I've blown up at them.

I also think that when you are not with a kid all that much, you forfeit the right to be bent with how they're being raised. You're not doing it. Shoulda thought about that before you left the kid.

That sounds like one broken frustrated parent, totally at a loss at what to do with/ about a child he thinks is going bad.

But like I said, the mom has manipulated you to her side.. smart woman.

...a parent or just the father? How often does he raise this kid? Sounds like he was making a special trip out to 'set her straight' and then off to NY again which he referred to as 'home'. Obviously his, not hers.

Again, I'm just responding as I go through the thread. You leave the kid, you live with whatever and however she's raised. You have zero right to say "I expect my child to behave in this manner" and expect them to respect that when you're not even there to teach it. What is she, a puppy that Daisy Hill didn't house break to his satisfaction? He want his money back?

Now you're sounding bitter.

I AM A WOMAN.

I know women.

I know what they are like.

It is my opinion.

You sound young.

Grow up and get over it.

What do I have to sound bitter about? To me, it sounded like you were saying Kim would only want to show everyone what a jerk Alec is because she is bitter. Mabye she has a good reason to show everyone what a jerk he is. Maybe he acts like an angel around the press, media, other people, whatever.

I only responded that way because I thought you were assuming that Kim was a bitter woman, which would somehow negate her reasoning for wanting everyone to hear Alec's phone message. We still don't know the real story, and we probably never will. We still don't even know how the tape got out.

I don't think Kim is innocent in this whole crappy custody battle. I don't like to jump to conclusions about things, but I will jump to the conclusion that Alec is a ranting lunatic because he has given us evidence to support that theory.

And yes, I'm younger than you, but I am old enough to make my own decisions. My being young( or younger than you) has nothing to do with why I didn't agree with your comment.

If she misses another one of his calls, I hear he is going to move out of the country...:yay:

...maybe that's why the kid doesn't call.

"Oh, I'm sorry daddy. I thought you'd moved to France when you didn't get your way in the last election. So sorry."

Here's another view of that...

How many people in here have babies daddies that don't even bother to call EVER!? He not only calls, but is willing to travel across the country to see her for ONE day to talk to her.

...if you're not doing the dad job, it kind follows that you wouldn't be expecting the kid to conform to YOUR phnoe scheduel. "Don't have time to raise me, but I gotta be their for you?"

Kinda exciting, gonna go see the kid for one day.

Woo hoo. Won't they have fun catching up on how he expects her to behave?

Basinger is a whack job, and Baldwin is an a-hole. I think the kid should be taken and given to a barren couple in Iowa and Basinger and Baldwins divorce should be reversed and they should be forced to live together in a small house in Vermont.

They deserve each other.

I hear a parent that gives a crap,

...a father who says she 'embarrassed him'.

What does that mean? Did he stand up in front of the cast and say " I shall now call daughter to tell her I love her" and she didn't answer? Again?

Embarrassed? I don't get that. Embarrassed to who? Isn't his relationship with his daughter private? He might be a damned sight more embarrassed now.

Baldwin's spokesman said in a statement Thursday that, “in the best interest of the child,” the 49-year-old actor “will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing ... keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order.

“The mother and her lawyer leaked this sealed material in violation of a court order,” the statement continued. “Although Alec acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child, everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years.”

And he says...

Baldwin could blown up "I AM PISSED! You blew me off AGAIN!" and left it at that. He went on and on and on and on. I have an inner lawyer. I can beat a dead horse with the best of them. I know.

Do the child beaters and rapists and torturers speak nice and caring to their victims?

See, it's this sort of thing:
will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing ... keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order.
that makes me think he's the problem. Why would he issue a press statement taking a shot at the mother when HE was the one that made that ridiculous phone call?

We agree that Alec is a lunatic. I think Kim is also. A nanny probably spends more time with their child than either one of them have.

* What's a good reason to publically trash your ex during a divorce (and subject your child to the outcome) when the whole matter is going to be decided privately in a courtroom?

Why is every woman that has an issue with a man automatically assumed to be a 'bitter woman?'

That, coming from a woman, is despicable.

I merely suggested the bitter woman theory (there are also bitter men) because a certain personality type would rather blame someone else for their problems. Rather than accepting the responsibility for making the wrong decisions in life and admitting to their own fault, it's easier to project it outward than to take the iniative to change oneself.

A lot of people only see Alec as a child abusing jerk. Think bigger behind the motive.

I don't necessarily agree that Kim should have released that tape to the media (if she's even the one that did it). I think if she really thought it was going to be an issue, she should have let her lawyer hear it and they can deal with it in court. I don't think that Alec should just be able to get away with it and not have to take responsibility for acting like he did.

:yay: I agree with you. I misunderstood your first post. I assumed (shame on me) you were automatically discrediting Kim (and her reasons for outing his abusive tape-if she was the one who released it) because she might be bitter because of their marriage, and not because of her concern for their child.

Im On 1.
His apology...

"Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child," he wrote. "I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened. But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case."

"In such public cases, your opponents attempt to take a picture of you on your worst day and insist that this is who you are as a person," Baldwin wrote. "Outside the doors of divorce court, I have friends, I have respect from people I work with and I have a normal relationship with my daughter. All of that is threatened whenever one enters a court room."
