Anyone else not liking the new 98 Star mornings?

Don't let them "dog" ya, Moondog..... I like the new 98.3 and will also listen to the new 97.7, especially if it's modern alternative. I'm hoping that will fill the void that 104.1 left behind. :huggy:

This is not good. T-bone & Heather was good. Isn't Moondog a surf movie character? Anyone surf on the Bay?

Should we change his name to Clamdigger Chris?

Looks like the radio jocks ticked off a LOT of (possibly former) listeners,
upset many more who will stay long enough to see what happens, and
attract not that many more new listeners.

Suggestion: Buy a scanner, LISTEN TO IT, report the RELEVANT news
in a prompt informative manner. Then there might be LESS worry.

Suggestion: Buy ADC Map Books of St. Mary's, Charles and Calvert Counties
and LEARN YOUR ROADS. Then report the traffic in a prompt informative
manner. Maybe, then, there would be LESS traffic tie-ups.

Old news is NO news! You will lose listeners who will tune to other more
breaking news stations and then they will most likely NOT tune back.

Suggestion: Play MUSIC that EVERYBODY wants to hear! The 15-50 age
group is a start, but keep a FEW decent oldies around for the rest of us
during the day when the 15-50s are in school/working WE spend money,
too. WE like to listen to the airwaves, too. The 15-50s have the early
morning and afternoon/evening "drive time". The older people have the
middle of the day where it is more "slack".

Suggestion: Bring back a "talk team" like T-Bone & Heather with call-ins
and a bit of humor, and have them discuss RELEVANT topics that affect
the folks here in Southern Md. We don't need horoscope projections, or
corny/hokey background sounds. Discuss topics that are up-to-date, too.
Want a change? Bring in guest "speakers" like the big stations do. Get a
county official in the studio and grill him/her on a topic.

Not saying that you shouldn't make some changes, change is good. But
make the changes where/when they are needed and make them beneficial.
Don't just change for change's sake. Think things through.

As of 6 a.m. they were still playing oldies on 97.7. I thought the new format was supposed to start yesterday?

Dawn & Boomer are new, so I will cut them some slack. That being said, Boomer sounds like he is on tranquilizers. Very boring voice. He needs to put some pep in his delivery.

The one thing that baffles me is that all of these stations are owned and operated by the same company. Yet I can only get 102.9 and 97.7 at work. In my car I get 97.7 pretty well and 98.3 comes in fuzzy as heck and once in a blue moon 102.9 works. At home I get squat and use the Xm chanels from my DTV. For the areas that I travel it seems absurd that I can get stations from Virginia but can't pick up reception from a station 20 miles away.

Years ago someone did a study and determined that something like 90% of the signal from 97.7 is directed over the Potomac River, don't know if they ever did anything about it or not.

I liked TBone and Heather & could get the station all the way up to Braddock Road some mornings.

I was annoyed that the change seemed to come out of the blue. I respect the right of the station to change format. I just didn't like the way it was handled. It was a show that wanted community involvement. Maybe I missed the announcment. A week or two notice would have been nice.

I didn't mind the new show or host. But it's not too much my style of music.

Traffic reports... They're not always up to date on the SOMD stations. But then they aren't on the DC stations either. I've sat in a backup for 30 minutes without the backup being mentioned on WTOP. And every station I've ever listened to doesn't seem to think that reporting on "against traffic" traffic is important. And that covers the many years I lived in DC too.

But all in all... I listen to the radio once a week when I Have to drive to my office so what do I know.

I tried to listen to them again this a.m. I didn't like T-Bone and Heather and these 2 are following in their lame footsteps.IMO. Within 5 min. yesterday Dawn said either "cool" or "way cool" at least 300 times
Today she said they came down from Florida to Md.

They sound very "green". They need to get comfortable I guess. I would listen to Jack Diamond and maybe check back to see if they have gotten any better.

I'll stick w/ my Sirius! :yay:

Sounds like they are trying TOO hard to be/sound like T-Bone & Heather to appease the whining fans.....:boo:

Listened for a short time this morning - not impressed. Star 98 really effed up by letting T-Bone & Heather get away. Guess I'll bounce back & forth between 94.7 and 100.3 now.

Same here, but I'm just not diggin' them. IMO, people want to hear about their community; not the guy chewing Boomer's head off in a restaurant in another state. They should have employed county folks who know the area and the people. :ohwell:
