I recall a certain Bushie going into the National Guard to avoid war.

And guess what, the Guard was deployed to Vietnam over and over again.. so how would joining the Guard be a way to avoid going??

Why would the PRESIDENT of the country be responsible for evacuating a city prior to a storm coming? That is well beyond his powers..

The president has no control of local transportation, of the use of the local school buses, or routing of traffic to get people out.. THAT would be the state emergency office, the city emergency office, and in turn the Mayor and the Governor.. After the fact, after the mayor and the governor had done their job (which neither did) then FEMA comes in and gives relief in the form of money and equipment. You can not expect the federal gov't to man and supply emergency provisions, trucks and other equipment outside of every city in America, so mayors and Governors alike know that in time of emergency help will come, but you will have to wait a few days for the federal help to come, until then you better have a plan in place to take of your own until they get there.

Yeah, and NO and LA plan to get through those first 23 - 72 hours was??

Biloxi wasn't as big a Screw up as NO was.. there weren't people dying by the hundreds there.. Biloxi, if I remember right, the mayor did everything he was supposed to do, he evacuated his city only 53 lives were lost. They weren't in need, or at least not as bad a need as New Orleans where more then 1300 people lost their lives.

If you were in charge, where would you have sent the rescuers?

Or should Bush have sent all the help to Biloxi to clean windows and pick up trash while hundreds more died in New Orleans??

Because of the screw up n LA Bush was forced to send the majority of aid personel and equipment there, instead of other places that could have used it..

How about this for being an idiot. John Kerry going to a University and saying they should all study hard and get good grades or they would end up in Iraq.

He not only insulted every man and woman in the service of their country, he hasnt explained yet how they would get to Iraq without volunterring to serve in the military.

That's a bull#### statement.. Nobody ignored the suffering, they did what they could do to save as many as they could.
