I find that suprising. Wasn't long ago it was impossible to get a speeding ticket on a bike. I've blown thru radar traps on 235 at 20-30mph over the speed limit without a second look from the officers.
Guess all the new traffic has brought new cops :ohwell:
Last time I got stopped was on 235.. >60 in a 40.. he pulled me over took my license and reg, came back and let me off.. "I ride too, and know how hard it is to keep it slow, but try to slow down a bit" I think he was surprised when the grey beard came out from under the helmet.

they are definitely clamping down on the younger more agressive riders. no reason to be doing wheelies down 235 in traffic. Of course this time of the year those wussbags aren't riding.

Hey Bluejeans, what do you ride and are you riding now or waiting for warmer weather?

Bob, just saw that F650. WOW, nice bike. Are you "bob" of bobsbmw.com?
I'm not THAT Bob, but these don't help..

I use this as my AV on the BMWBMW and BMWMOA sites and I've actually received e-mails form people thinking I was THAT Bob, sending me comments about service etc.

This was the reason I bought the bike I did.. My brother in IDAHO, sent me a picture of my bike with the BIG "BOB'S BMW" sign in the background.. figured it had to be a sign from God.

Someone suggested a snowmobile suit and I could ride in cold weather.

I said "you get the suit and I'll watch". :lmao:

Get's cold just thinking about it =brrrrr=

Honda Shadow 750 ACE in warm weather only :hot: little thrill seeker that I am :lmao:
I've made it down to the teens so far this year, and wasn't too bad.... I have about a 15 mile commute where I get up to about 70 MPH when it's cold. Dress right, full face helmet, it's really not that bad.

I got the bib overalls from this set. And a Kilimanjaro jacket. They work great. I've got a 5 mile commute. I suit up and ride, I'm warm all the way there.
 I take the car and it's just starting to warm up when I pull into the parking lot at work.

Riding in the cold is a piece of cake if you dress for it. Although if there's rain in the forecast I'll pass. Hitting ice on the road with a bike is something I'd rather avoid if possible. :)

Motovation Cycle at 10:00am. Roger!

Any other novice riders going along, or just you crusty types? :lmao:
Best advice I can give you, is buy a dirt bike and learn in the dirt.
A Tractor Trailer is less likely to run over your dumb asses in a field.

That's good advice since everybody on here lives on a farm or has access to one.

Excellent advice, I even suggested a dirt bike myself earlier in the thread. ;)

This YZF is my third bike but it's been 10 or so years since I've been on a bike and it's quite a different animal from the 78' CB750F and Yami XS1100 that were my daily drivers when I was a punk kid. So I'm taking it easy and getting my seat time in.

I'm no dummy, I figure 10 years off and the technology gap in my rides makes me a novice all over again.

Yes it is. As matter of fact, I would like to see the MVA set up a small motocross track .
And if you can't make a couple of laps on a dirt bike in ex amount of seconds, you don't get your motorcycle license.
90% of motorcyclist don't have a fricken clue of how to handle a bike in an emergency situation.
And emergency situations are very frequent when your on a street bike.

And the part that burns my ass, is these clueless riders will put people on their back seats.
The same idiots that ride with a helmet , but wear flip flops and shorts. and allow their passenger to do the same.

That's why you take the MSF courses.
Perhaps a better solution would be the graduated liscense system used in Europe.

As long as the MVA is taking requests I'd like to turn that into "I wish the MVA would set up a road course" After all, we're talking about proficiency riding on the street. A dirt bike is great for teaching fundamentals, but dirt and street are two different worlds.

I ride with a helmet because I get ticketed if I don't, I've raced Moto X in the pat, and I sport my flip flops on the bike in the summer, glad it burns your ass.

Personal preference, and if you're an adult, it should be your choice.
