Bad Words

Ok just spoke w/ the day care lady a little more about the bad word thing and she said that her problem is the fact that he is putting things into context... like when he gets mad at someone he says "peepee" or "peepee ass" "shut up kid" etc... and that she has noticed sometimes he will grab at his crotch and say "pee pee"...

So what's the census on that?

hmmm....that's a little different. My son is only 15 months & hasn't started talking too much yet. Let me know what you end up doing in case we have those issues later on!

Does he do that at home? If he does just keep telling him that's not nice we don't talk like that & change his attention to something else. Every kid is different, some will move on & some will continue to do it for attention. Tough call. Good Luck!

Buy the boy some under roos. It's obvious he has to pee and if he's not already potty trained, he wants to be. :killingme

Where did he pick up "shut up kid"? Maybe you should ask the daycare provider what SHE is saying to the kids during the day. Reverse psychology.

He is not potty trained yet but I really think I should get him into it. But she is making me feel liek there is something wrong w/ him because he has been grabbing at himself and saying that.:ohwell:

Not from her ... but my 9 year old who goes there as well said Jack picked shut up from her daughter. (I just put kid instead of name of kid that goes to the daycare ) I am pretty strict w/ my kid on that word.. I think it is totally rude to tell someone to shut up so my kids have always got a smack on their mouth if I hear them say that!

LM, I've never heard you say "Shut Up", the only way Jack could have picked that up is probably the daycare or somewhere else such as hearing stuff on the TV.

I wouldn't worry about the "pee pee" comment and start potty training him. Also, I would try to find out where he's getting "Shut Up" comment from. Once you find out, you can put stop to it.

Before any of you jump on me laughing about "hear". Yes, I used that word "hear" instead of "lip reading" or "written note".

He may very well be ready for the potty. On the safe side if it'll make you and the sitter feel better, have him checked for a UTI or yeast infection (especially since he is still in diapers, a yeast infection may appear to look like diaper rash). It may be that when he pees it hurts. :shrugs:
