Again, people attacking the messenger. It is not Railroad's way or my way or the highway. It is God's way or the highway. He said it. I didn't. I only quoted it.

I believe. Others choose not to. If they have issues with what I believe, that is their problem, not mine. If they have issues with the Bible, that is their problem, not mine. If they have issues with God, that is their problem, not mine.

There are no contradictions in the Bible.
I have no problem with being educated, and learning a new viewpoint or having a question answered. I must say on a personal level, you have never failed me. I do however have a problem with somebody choosing not to educate, but to insult. Is one being a messenger when one seeks to belittle others? RR is not offering wisdom, nor love, nor compassion nor understanding from what I have seen.

So this is a religion forum and anyone can post their views without getting insulted, chastised or belittled for different religious beliefs?
That's not what I see happening here.

First you have to prove that there is a god. You claim that there is, therefore the burden of proof is on you.

If I claimed that I had invisible fairies living out back of my house and told you to prove that they weren't there, that would be a little ridiculous now wouldn't it? Just like if I were to ask you to prove that all the other gods out there don't exist.

There are no contradictions in the Bible.

Just because you place your hands over your ears and say it over and over doesn't make it so.

I'd love to be a :flyonthewall: in a home where one worships the bible while the other worships the bottle.
Really? Well, I'd like to be a :flyonthewall: in a home where the mother supposedly teaches her daughter that women are powerful and strong, yet pimps herself out to any guy who'll give her the nod because her self-esteem is so pathetically low.

Anything else you'd like to say?

Back up. When 2A and Railroad start carbombing people and flying planes into buildings, then you can say they remind you of Muslim extremists.

I don't really care to engage in debates about the existence of God - 2A and other Christians can believe what they want and it's no skin off me. I just like to discuss religion, much like I enjoy politics. It deals with human nature, and therefore is interesting to me.

What I find irritating is not being able to express myself for fear of being attacked by the fundies. And it's equally irritating when someone engages merely to disparage and sneer instead of have a civil, respectful conversation.

"You're going to hell, loser!"
"Well, you're no better than a Muslim carbomber!"

That sort of thing is not conducive to good discussion. I should start my own private religion forum and only invite Sam and Tonio - they're the only sane ones when it comes to this topic.
Would it have been better to say "Hilter-esque"? I can't help if the way some choose to communicate their message mimes that which is/has been exhibited by extreme figures in society. :ohwell:

Maybe we should have an SOMD book club with "How to win friends and influence people" as the first selection. :lmao:

Why do men and women have the same number of ribs if God took one of adams to make Eve??
Maybe He made her so she'd have the same number? I mean, geez, you're talking about making a grown person from a rib, from a guy He made out of dirt.

:lmao: Actually, believe it or not I do have one extra rib! :neener: I can't remember, but I think the doc said only 5% or some other ridiculously low number, of the population had an extra rib. :lmao: I'm special. :shortbus:

I wouldn't know anything about that scenario, so no.

But I'd be interested to know how one wrestles with their beliefs in not worshipping other gods but has an issue with alcoholism if that IS, in fact, a "god". I didn't say it was (RR did) ... I just asked the question.

Nope.. she's supposed to have one less rib.. that's what my Sunday School teachers told me.. of course MAYBE women evolved, and recovered the missing rib over the past few millenia..

If they were feeding people into the ovens, sure. As it stands, fundamentalist Christians don't even bear a passing resemblance to extremist Muslims or Hitler. It's ignorant comments like yours that belie your protests that you're only trying to converse. It's pretty obvious that you're really trying to attack religion and 2A in particular because you have some boner against him.

When I was a practicing drunk it caused BIG problems, not with my beliefs as much as with my ability to be close to Christ. Had I allowed booze to become a larger influence in my life than it already was (i.e., a "god), one of the less obvious results would have been losing my ability to effectively do things for Him. It's still a weakness I have to fight with every day, and some times are easier than others.

Jesus said that in Matthew's account of the sermon on the mount.

Matthew 7:6

6"Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
He was saying that there are those people that will not accept the word no matter what. Even if you give the word to them as smooth as a pearl, they will not have any appreciation for the word just as a dog has no appreciation for a pearl. So to answer you, yes, Jesus said there are those that cannot and are not worthy of being taught.
