It is that many whites are still bigoted racist, but it is all whites that need to apologize for the African slavery in America.

Ah, splitting hairs again I see. So part of my previous statement was correct...

every white person living in America is a racist and should apologize for slavery because they are white. Even if one's family just recently immigrated from, say, Germany.

I said "many whites" and clearly I did not say all or every one.

You disagreed then but you are now proving me right on the point that you want every white person to apologize for those activities... regardless of whether their ancestors ever owned slaves, or if their ancestors were even living in America when slavery existed. I was also right that your answer would be a gem!

Do you think all white people should apologize because we are benefitting from the residual work of slaves? If so, what about modern blacks? They are benefitting equally as much, and all too many of them neither know nor care about their history - but they'll demand that apology.

I hear a lot of white people preaching that garbage, but I say it is very evident and clear - that those black folk in Africa selling their own kind were not really in charge.

African merchants, the poor, royalty -- anyone -- could be abducted in the raids and wars that were undertaken by Africans to secure slaves that they could trade.

The African traders were very much in control, as they did the rounding up and moving of people to the European forts, where they would trade for European valuables. Both sides were nose-deep in it.

If you want to claim that the Africans traded their fellow countrymen only out of fear of being sold or killed themselves, then perhaps you could tell why Africans have enslaved each other in modern times.

People have been willing to do horrible things against others since the beginning of history, and it has gone in all directions. No one here is trying to deny the brutality of slavery; the only one resisting the facts is you, Jimmy.

And even if the black Africans were giving their own kind into the American slavery (which is absurd) then that does not make the whites innocent or less guilty.

Absurd? Really? Does it not make sense that the people who knew the continent the best would be the ones to traverse it to round up the human property?

Will you acknowledge that we outlawed the importation of slaves?

Will you acknowledge that we then outlawed slavery?

Will you acknowledge that we then passed a large number of anti-discrimination laws?

Will you acknowledge that we then passed laws mandating discrimination against whites in favor of all other races to give them a stronger footing to make up for decades and century old wrongs?

If you cannot acknowledge these things, you do not live in a world of reality.

If you do, you will have to then acknowledge that all you ask for (apologies and amends) has already been done.

Reminds me of a story I heard once when I was little about a young boy who was learning Geography in school and he could not understand why everybody had all of these different "labels" for what nationality they were. His homework assignment was to write something about what he had learned with regards to all of the different cultures, races and nationalities. When it was his turn to give his report he summed it all up in 2 sentences:

I agree, being white does not automatically make you racist. However, your previous posts imply that you think most whites are racist, and need to apologize and make amends for what you think is their racism:

... we whites could apologize for our part in the African slavery, and the later denial of their civil rights, and for the still lingering racism of the ignorant white bigots...

It is sad that we have white bigots that still want to distort and subjegate black history...
