Thanks, I want to finish the basement (or at least the half that isnt finished
) and I am too cheap to hire someone to do it. I have never done anything besides painting so it will be interesting. I will hire someone to run electricity b/c I dont want to mess w/that. The bathroom is going to be my first project, I laugh just thinking about what might happen :lmao:

Nahhh, that's half the fun right there ... designing your own stuff. :yay:
I use AutoCad to design some of my stuff, but I've gotten some plans from old Norm. Did the jewelry box with the hidden compartment. The trestle table with a small modification. Would like to try that dresser (highboy), but the cabriole legs are a real PITA.

My next project is the booth in my dining room.

:shocking: Dang, you're all technologically advanced and stuff. I sit down with graph paper, a measuring tape and sketch stuff out. :blushing: I also walked to/from school in 3 feet of snow uphill both ways with no shoes and only plastic bags on my feet. :frown:

How do you know if you have a problem with water in your basement? I have never physically seen any water in basement, I havent seen any mold growing, and I dont have a mildewy smell... Is that a good sign that there is no water seepage?
Standing water is obvious, so I won't go there. The trouble is with water you don't see. One way to find out if your slab is sucking water out of the ground and evaporating it into your house is to put a piece of clear plastic sheeting on the floor (I'd go with 2'x2') and tape it in place. Check it the next day and if there is condensation on it, you have water coming thru.

Also look for salt build up on the foundation.

Running the wires is easy. I ran them myself in Frederick, but hired an electrician to come in and check out my work and then plug them into the breaker box and install the breakers.

You could always buy the ready made legs, and then build the rest yourself.
