Breast Feeding a No No

1) I get you don't want to see boob

2) I am quite proud of my breastfeeding record. It was hard work.

1) I love boobs, but I've also seen boobs that I wish I hadn't. :twitch: I, personally, wouldn't complain if a chick whipped out a boob in public, but this isn't about MY preference, it's about policy.

2) As you should be. :huggy:

I have.

And if you're going to put your boobs on the table, people will look. It's just the way it is and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Again, I have no problem with discrete public breastfeeding. Half the time you're not even aware it's going on unless you're staring (which is rude). It's the ones that whip out the boob and make a big production out of it, then get pissed when people object, that I take exception to.

I don't know if I can be anymore clear than that.

If anyone is really offended by some boob flopper they should whip out their cell phone and make it obvious they are taking a picture of the exposed boob and owner. If the "lady" objects tell her you are sending it in to old-men-jerking-off-over-breastfeeding.com. Bet she covers the flopping boob up pretty quick.

Breast feeding your infant child is fine. It's a natural thing. But even though breast feeding has been a part of mostly every womans culture, it is still looked at as taboo by many people when seen out in public. Let's face it! When you are out in a public place for dining or whatever, do you really want to explain to your toddler or other children who are a bit older, why the lady at the next table has her breast out, and why a baby is sucking on her breast? Sure it's a natural thing. But it still should be done respectful.

I nursed all four of my children. If I had to nurse them in a public place, I always went into the restroom, and even then had a blanket over my breast. And I HATE to say it, but there are people, pigs more like it, who look at a woman breast feeding her child and think of it as a sexual pleasure thing for them. Personally, to avoid any stares or people looking at a women nursing there child like its pornographic, I would say to just nurse in a private place. I know that if I were in a public place, especially with my husband, I would not appreciate some woman just whipping out her breast in plain view and breast feeding her child.

I breast feed my daughter in public, am covered up. I have had the blanket slip off by accident. there is nothing wrong with it. There is no policy to breastfeeding as chain said. And people who have prolbems with it should defientaly look the other way. I would not go feed my baby in a nasty public bathroom to make someone else comfortable.

I really would like to know exactly what the woman did that garnered so much attention that she was asked to leave the restaurant. As many have already said - breastfeeding should not attract that much attention. I agree many restaurant restrooms are too poorly maintained to even use as a toilet much less try to stay in there long enough to feed a baby. My husband and I were in a restaurant once where a woman was wearing a shirt so low it barely covered her nipples and she definitely had a lot to show. Nobody came up and asked her to leave and she would have been more covered if there had been a baby attached to at least one of her breasts!

She will win. You can breastfeed anywhere. I was a breastfeeding mom for 4 1/2 years. If my kid was hungry, they got fed. I wasn't going to feed them in some nasty bathroom. :nono:

I agree with you. I am a breastfeeding Mom right now to my baby. I use the breastfeeding blanket cover to breast feed in public. I never had any problems breastfeeding anywhere in this county even at Ruby's Tuesday in California, MD. Everywhere I goes, everyone are very supportive of my decision to breastfeed my baby. I'm glad that Southern Maryland counties are very supportive and open minds. However, I do hate the "stares" from people.

yeah, bathrooms are GROSS. Do anyone wants to eat in the bathrooms? I don't think, babies wouldn't like that either. Breastfeeding Babies should have same rights as everyone else of where they can eat.

God didn't give women the breasts for "sex". God gave women the breasts, so we could feed our babies. Without breastfeeding, we wouldn't survive since the caveman's time. Life as we know now would not have existed without breastfeeding even though now these days, formulas are most popular choices. However, breastfeeding are slowly coming back being popular again because of its' benefits. It helps build the babies' immune systems stronger (no allergies, sicknesses, etc.). Also, most women who breastfed do not get breast cancer because it helps reduce the breast cancer risks.

There are ways of being discreet about it. I have no issues as long as the are not Boob Flopping (ala Vrai). My sister-in-law was breast feeding her youngest at Christmas for 15 minutes before I realized she was...

As long as you are being discreet, but in public, whats the issue?

:yeahthat:

Alot of my friends and family didn't even know I was breastfeeding. They thought I was just cuddling with my baby with the blanket covered. As long you are being discreet, it should be fine.

Target sells Breastfeeding Blanket Cover for $9.99 unless it is on sale. I love the blanket cover because it stays on with no problem.

It wasn't tough for you? Maybe I have really sensitive skin, but teaching them to latch on hurt like a biatch.

:yeahthat:

Breastfeeding hurts all depending on how senstive your nipples, fullness breast with milk, teething babies bites during nursing, etc. Also, if you had a little of caffiene, breasts will be sore because of caffiene (chocolate, one cup of coffee, or one can of soda will do it).

Also, breastfeeding is a hard work. You have to eat right, drink enough water, get enough sleep as much as you can, etc. to keep your milk supply stable.

I do not regret the breastfeeding because I know the benefits that are better for the baby and mother. For babies, stronger immune system. For mothers, low risks of breast cancer and lose all of your pregnancy weight! For babies and mothers, strong bond for lifetime.

This has to be one of the dumbest threads ever on SoMD.com. The legality, morality, or sensibility of breastfeeding shouldn't even be a topic of discussion. It is one of the most natural things ever.

I remember 15 years ago, when a new mother at work requested a private setting for 20 minutes each day to pump her breasts. The only available space was the conference room, so she was granted use of that every day at noon. (Not like there were a lot of conferences waiting in line.) The moronic boss said to everyone, "Why can't she just use the bathroom?" I lost my sh!t and screamed at him, "She is making her baby's dinner! Are you THAT stupid?" (He was.)

Huzzah to women who feed their children the way nature intended!!! And screw the blue noses who see the female body as dirty and/or sexual even within the most beautiful context.

And for every forumite who thinks we went to war in Iraq for oil, let me remind you that Democratic presidential candidate Walter Mondale and his friends at (Swiss-based) Nestle and (Minnesota-based) Cargill have been polluting the third world for over 50 years with propaganda denigrating breastfeeding so they can sell their sh!tty soy-based formula.
