Buell opinions?

Same here.....how much, though? Thats hard to say. Exact same bike, I think I would pay an extra 1,000 to not have 10,000 miles on it to start. and to me, the engineering changes that cant easily be added, those are worth more than 1K, so, my recommendation is to do the new one. Only reason I bought my bike used was that it only had 700 miles on it, so few, in fact, that the credit union changed to loan from used to new:)

I dont know how realistic Kelley is for values, but it shows a $7720 retail price for the 2009, and a $6400 for the 2007.

2007 Buell XB12X Ulysses Motorcycle Retail Value & Price - Kelley Blue Book

NADA powersports shows 12K for the new 09, and 7K for the 07.

The '09 is off of $12,000 list.

Yes, it is at a HD dealer. I get the impression they'd be happy if I just got the damn thing out of there. They treat it like it's a dog turd in the middle of Heaven.

Mention you don't see many sporty lookin' bikes in the showroom, ask about continued parts support and maintence than make an offer $1k lower

FYI - heated hand grips are great in colder weather

I'm looking at the Buell, talking sport/tour to the guy and he says "Well, this soft tail over here is sport tour...or a sportster...or...."

"Oh, that? Let's look at the Dyna. It's a Harley, you know..."

Yea they don't like Buell's sitting around. They were kinda forced on them years ago and they never warmed up to it. Harley dealers suck as far as haggling but that was on a Harley and they know it will get bought and someone will pay list. I bet if you went in with a check and a steely glare you could get it down a touch. I would go newer if possible.

Larry, I don't know why you're racking your brain over this. All you're gonna do is make a mail run to the end of the driveway 'cause you've stated over and again that you'll never ride the roads.

Get a Segway.

I am SOOOOoooo friggin jealous. I want the Ulysis in the WORST way. And had I been patient and waited 2 more months, I'd have one instead of the XB12R Firebolt that I have now.

I LOVE my Firebolt, and have been trying to talk myself into selling it (monetary reasons) for two years now.

I love it. I ride the hell out of it, and it loves me for it.

Only thing I would suggest is do a bit of research as for good years and bad years (they had a couple that had minor tedious issues). The BEST source for info on ALL things Buell is the BadWeb. Buell Motorcycle Forums, Information, Tech Support, Photos, Performance Parts, & Advice - BadWeB

:roflmao:

So what is your plan to get the full ticket? MSF course or the DMV riding test?

alternate beginner course next weekend. Presuming I don't whiskey throttle their Rebel into the weeds, I'm done, legal and starting the death/maimed clock. Gotta make it six months to beat the statistics!

Not many do, especially if you are a 2 attempt learner permit holder.

Harley guys say "let's go!"

And, The Suzuki guys don't do it for anyone, except used bikes if you are experienced. Their showroom bikes are dry, no batts.

Really! I know they were doing it a while back to trigger sales but thought they ended it. they do this traveling demo day thing which was annoying.

I suppose liability is so high most can't.

I don't know about the learners permit thing.. but the BMW dealerships are REAL lenient about taking any bike out you want to try.

I try not too.
