OK,

A; 2007, 10,000 miles, broke in, well taken care of, all the little things fixed and ready to go for $7,000

or

B; Same bike, same accessories (red) 2008 200 miles, sitting on the show room floor, $9,000

Which would you pick?

Also, the '07 is stamped right on the neck, 'April 2007'

The '08, is stamped '08 BUT they are advertising it as an '09. Is that kosher?

If there were upgrades to to "2009" model they could have been incorporated into the manufacturing process in '08
A little reasearch could get you the differences between '08 and '09 models and that could help you decide if it's worth $2k more than the '07

Did that. Refinements, very minor.

Ah, heres changes to the 08 from the 07, as found in a press release quoted over at ADVrider

Nice improvements on 2008 Ulysses
From todays press release...

"New 47mm front forks replace the previous 43 mm forks. Secured with a new triple clamp design, this new front end improves the torsional rigidity of the entire chassis. Fork flex is reduced during hard braking for improved stability and feedback.

Steering sweep lock-to-lock is increased to 74 degrees from 54 degrees to reduce the turning radius in off-road low-speed maneuvers. New off-set triple clamps maintain the 23.5 degree rake and 4.8 inch trail.

Heated hand grips are now standard equipment on the 2008 Ulysses. The grips are rated at 18 watts per side on the High setting and 11 watts per side on the Low setting.

New air guides positioned on the tail section of the Ulysses deflect engine heat away from the rider’s legs.

Modifications to the 1203 Thunderstorm V-Twin engine enhance performance, reduce maintenance, and allow a new redline of 7100 rpm (see separate Thunderstorm release for details)."

Feedback from members, one says that the redesigned engine is smoother..

Just stuff to throw into the equation.

Thank you! '07 was not a tight turner in the driveway, for sure. Good one, there.

Yeah, the '07 was hot as all hell when my MX trained thighs squeezed the tank! In shorts no less...

From my reading, the airflow stuff to redirect the heat is an easy retrofit, its body ducting, under $100. The steering, that for me would be a biggie, I turn tight quite a lot in my driveway, making sure the next days ride is a straight shot out, also where I park at the office.

$2000 worth alone? Hmmm, maybe not. But add the oiling and fuel injection changes, and the facts its 10,000 miles newer, that might be enough to sway me.

I was wondering how y'all felt about 10,000 miles.

10K miles on a bike is different than 10K miles on a car. It would be a consideration for me.

Define? A $2000 consideration? $1000? $500?

BTW: The Buell has a really kewl rear suspension knob for adjustment. My guy rides in on lowest, softest, setting and just did 1,000 miles to Ohio and back, says he was very comfortable. Don't know what this means for my taste yet but, FWIW.

2 years and 10K I would try to work the 09 down $500-$1000 or so. Is it at a Harley dealer?

The '09 is off of $12,000 list.

Yes, it is at a HD dealer. I get the impression they'd be happy if I just got the damn thing out of there. They treat it like it's a dog turd in the middle of Heaven.

"Oh, that? Let's look at the Dyna. It's a Harley, you know..."

Larry,

The prices you are talking, I'd go to a dealer and look at new.

ALL the Japanese makers have great bikes in that price range.

There are a LOT of new bikes in the 10K range, and unless you are paying cash, financing on a new bike is MUCH better than used.

yeah, that's 10 Harley years worth of miles..

:howdy:

I was hoping for an entertaining story about how BMW's routinely get 700,000 miles and your last one had over a million until it sprung a head gasket leak which you fixed with a stick of Juicy Fruit and got 250K more.
