Besche was bought out by Burch 10 years ago. It still retains the name due to customer loyalty to Besche.
Really looked at the sign today. I think that's insignia of one of the US oil suppliers.

I don't understand why people are offended by this. It just looks like they are kissing up to the local military, which is what advertising is all about. What's the problem?

That is completely untrue. Both Besche and Burch are sponsors of Somd.com and definite competitors.

I thought that, but I couldn't find any evidence. Thanks!

Donnie is a personal friend. I assure you the buyout happened ten years ago. The "Burch" name is big in St. Mary's. The "Besche" name is big in Charles. They are run as independent businesses, but the owners are the same.

Are you sure? Because Mike Besche is still there - it just seems odd to me that he'd have stayed on as an employee.

Plus there was a concern because I did both of their websites, that there would be favoritism or cross-talk.

Having a Besche stay on to manage was one of the deals.

Family loyalty in the counties. Donnie will probably kick my azz for diming this out. Sonny is the one that told us initially. He is best friends with my ex-brother-in-law.

Well, I've got to talk to Sheri tomorrow anyway, so I'll ask her. Too bad Oz isn't here - he'd know.

Military/Military-like Uniforms Should NOT Be Used For Personal Gain

Being a sailor myself, I find disgust with seeing civilians portraying themselves as military personnel. The military is not to be mocked! If a company wants to "salute" the military - then simply portray a person in normal civilian attire saluting. This would definitely warm my heart and give me a feeling of sincerity. Having a civilian posing in a military or military-like uniform and being "out of regulations" from the hair to the salute - that is INSULTING! The military is about good order, discipline, honor, courage, commitment. Such signs out side of the base do not help to portray this.
This is no different than seeing civilians wearing "camie" trousers with non-military clothing. The uniform is what makes the US Military unique in the world. If civilians are allowed to wear a military/military-like uniform casually - what message do you thing is sent about the real folks wearing the real uniforms??
