Back in May -- but we've danced this dance before y'all just said when Bush referred to "Mission Accomplished" he was either referring to the boat's name or the people that were returning from war -- not actually implying to all American people that the war was over - talk about symatics!!!
Sorry, I wasn't here then and the people here obviously did a poor job in debating it. I'm assuming you're referring to the speech on the USS Lincoln? Bush never said mission accomplished either. Here's what he said:
"Admiral Kelly, Captain Card, officers and sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln, my fellow Americans, major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.
And now our coalition is engaged in securing and reconstructing that country.
...
We have difficult work to do in Iraq. We're bringing order to parts of that country that remain dangerous. We're pursuing and finding leaders of the old regime who will be held to account for their crimes. We've begun the search for hidden chemical and biological weapons, and already know of hundreds of sites that will be investigated. "
Here's the
transcript if you want to try to find some ammo.
Why is it that the left is always trying to put words into Bush's mouth...i.e. "mission accomplished" and "imminent threat". If you want to debate, debate with facts. To do otherwise just makes you look like a fool.
