Just a dem shooting for the last word - which never seems to happen unless you are watching the democratic national debate.
Dems, you aren’t the only Democrat on here; you’re just a little more aligned with the party then some of us.
Well now that thats out of the way I feel obligated to make a point. I think we need to get rid of the head of the CIA Mr. Tenant -- what good has he done?
And while I am not too fond of Tenet I see him as caught between a rock and a hard place. For years the intelligence community has been beefing up various forms of surveillance technologies and doing less human intelligence (spies, moles, in the field type stuff). From what I am aware of we are now starting to reverse that trend, which should enhance our capabilities.
1) There was 9/11 and still no Osama Bin Forgotten;
9/11 was the first time that we had experienced that method of attack, it surprised us all and made us painfully aware that we didn’t know as much as we need to. As to your comments regarding Bin Laden I think you are just way off the mark. The hunt is on, but the prey is wary and in an area that supports and hides him. But you can be assured that we are actively going after him and will keep after him until we get him, he is in no way forgotten.
2) The anthrax mailer is still not caught;
The anthrax mailer is another of those methods of terrorism that is difficult to track down. Remember the Uni-bomber? How long did it take before we tracked him down?
3) We had snippers and they had us looking for a white guy in a white van;
The snipers weren’t a CIA issue as been pointed out. The nature of how they did the shootings made it really difficult to catch them too. If they hadn’t been “communicating” with the law they could easily still be out there doing it. That shooter in Ohio is still out there because a team of two or a single person is a lot more difficult to catch then a group.
4) He said we'd catch Saddam with WMDs they were all over the place (a whopping 4 stock piles from satelite images);
As to the WMD, what do you think was going on from November 2002 until March 2003 when the UN was jerking us around? The material had been there, everyone knew it and they had plenty of time to move it, hide it, or get rid of it. Iraq has about an equal landmass as does California and plenty of places to stash stuff. That hole we found Hussein in could have held several hundred pounds of weaponized material. Not to mention that when the UN inspectors were there on the last chance inspection they found many items prohibited and classified as WMD, missiles exceeding set ranges, chemical and biological warheads, and active weapons programs. It seems to me some have a very narrow definition for WMD that doesn’t match what was defined in the Security Councils Resolutions. We may not ever find those known stockpiles, but then again we might get lucky and find out what happened to them.
5) He told shrub Saddam was getting weapons from Nigeria; and
No, as I recall he advised what other nation’s intelligence had said about the attempt to acquire the “yellow cake”. That information, with Hussein’s known desire to get a “bomb”, made sense. To my knowledge no one has determined if the documents used in that accusation were a disinformation campaign by Iraq or created by our allies to justify the imminence of the threat. Put yourself in his shoes, what do you take seriously and what do you ignore?
6) We still have no clue about the whole ricin scare.
You’re right, no clue yet. We don’t know if it is a foreign or domestic terrorist. The only thing for sure is that we have a bunch of sick bastards in this world willing to do anything to cause pain, suffering and fear and more ways then we can think of for them to carry it out.
Its freightening that he still maintains his position -- these are not just little mistakes folks. A few months ago it was mentioned on one of the political shows that he was still in office because he had "something" over the White House -- that was the only thing the political pundants could think of. Could it had been some 9/11 warnings that were ignored so they could continue their quest for oil in Iraq? Quite frankly I wasn't losing sleep over Saddam - it was Osama Bin Forgotten.
It’s nice that you can lay all of this blame on Tenet, but it wasn’t a single person/single point failure and any speculation as to having something over the Whitehouse is nonsensical at best. Our nation had been put to sleep by our indifference and inaction to threats, as we were fat, dumb, and happy. And any continued comment about oil is foolish, the only matter of oil has to do with how our supposed allies were secretly wheeling and dealing with Iraq in violation of resolutions that they enacted. This has never been an oil acquisition deal as many try to make so by the continued repeating of that erroneous message.
Then, only after catching Saddam, they send their speciality team that found Saddam to go look for Bin Forgotten. Why wasn't it the other way around.
Come on, this is about as bogus as one can get. Since we first started searching for that vermin we have used a combination of Special Ops, regular grunts, and anyone else that fit the bill and we are still doing that. It sure would have been great if Old Slick Willy had taken up Sudan on one of their offers when they had his whereabouts known.
In conclusion, I can name more where Tenet has not been up to speed on issues, but these are just the big issues that come to mind. Who would have appointed such a screw up?
Who you ask, why that was Slick Willy too, Tenet was confirmed in 1997.
