Bye Bye IHOP

I haven't eaten at the IHOP in over a year. Last time I was there, my husband and I ordered the country fried steak and eggs with coffee.

First, instead of coffee we both received glasses of tomato juice. Mine had a french fry floating at the top! Tell me how the waitress didn't see this?? After returning the juice, we got our coffee along with a pitcher of coffee for refills if we desired. Upon trying to refill our coffee cups, we noticed there was something wrong with the pitcher. My husband took off the top to find a "Chicken Bone" inside the pitcher.

I thought I'd puke. We made a prompt exit aftering showing the manager and haven't been back since. :barf:

Sorry folks,
My group has eaten breakfast there at least twice a month for the past two years WITHOUT any of the issues you mention. We have had great service, correct orders, loads of good coffee and good food. I have used the bathroom and found no cleaning issues, peeked into the kitchen and found NO frying pans as pictured or other problems. The manager was allways polite and everyone at the register gave a senior discount with out checking my ID. I would rather have a Cracker Barrel here, but they are too commercial, cold and production minded. No personalization with the customers. Also, I think that chain is not allowed to build anywhere than near an Interstate highway for volume.
If IHOP went under, I feel sorry for the nice folks now out of a job.
My 2c.

I've been to lots of IHOPs in my day, and have always enjoyed them (they've been clean, and the food was great at a great price), but the one here is just SHADY - garbage on the floor, less than stellar service, and the iced tea I ordered came out tasting like coffee. I'm very hopeful new management will mean a better kept restaurant. (Not that I don't like Bob Evans, but a change of pace once in a while would be nice.)

Bring on Waffle House or maybe an Eat N' Park, Shoney's with the AYCE breakfast bar.

I haven't eaten at the IHOP in LP (or any other place) since shortly after it opened back in '89 or '90 and they served bad eggs and made alot of people sick with food poisoning, including me. My girlfriend at the time worked there, but I still would not go back to that place.

That was a function of the eggs, not IHOP. MD over reacted and banned over easy and sunny side ups for a while. Glad that didn't last.

OMG...

Well as I am told, if you want to know what standards a restaurant holds check the bathroom.

You would think but I was in a resturant with the cleanest bathroom that I have ever seen. The boy just got done cleaning it and I saw him go bus a table and use the same rag on the table that he had just cleaned the pee and pubes off the urnal with.

It was an Olive Garden by the way.

You get the best Mexican food in places you wouldn't sit down in, much less use the bathroom.

Was that the OG in Waldorf?

I won't eat there, because they won't let me smoke...

Something's going to kill all of us in the long run, but that is just plain GROSS!

Well the urinal was probably cleaner then the the table to begin with, so probably did the urinal a dis-service. (mythbusters, the cleanest surface in the entire place was the toilet seat)

Besides, if we are TOO clean a society a minor germ would kill all of us, you need some bad germs to build up your immunity.

You know I have seen the same nastiness in a DC McDonald's. The guy was emptying a trash can when we got in line and then I saw him behind the counter a little while later fixing the person in front of me drink. Well I asked my mom if she saw him wash his hands (I didn't like the way he looked so I was hating) my mom said she didn't and the wash sink was right there so I said, wouldn't the water have gotten our attention and she said yeah, well the manager must have heard us because he told the guy that he didnt belong up front, well I was glad my food was ordered by this time because Mr. Nasty Hands was not touching my food. I hate thinking about the theory that people in the food industry sabotage your meal. But it is true as the stories we have read here.

You can certainly go to Bon Buffet and smoke because the man brought out a just cooked tray of food with a cigarette in his mouth. P'd me off!!! I wouldn't mind that being done by someone I know but just the fact that "should be" professionals think we will accept anything is maddening.

I worked at a Wendy's in San Jose in 1984. The guy that taught me to make the chili told me that once it's all mixed up, you have to add the flavor, and he launches a big loogie in there. I never did that, but I still won't eat Wendy's chili.
