Calvert Scanner - A lot going on !

There were 4 dumb kids (1 of mine) on the rowboat, the waves were filling the boat it bagan to sink so they jumped! The other kids on the beach could not get through to 911, one ran home called 911, the other teens were scared and began to jump in to try and save their friends and (my other son) brother. The first call went through finally at 4:40, These kids were not rescued until close to 7, Very Very Scary to watch in horror thinking you may lose 2 kids of your own and 8 of their friends. 2 were transported to Calvert for Hypothermia. Released last night. Maybe it was dumb for them to jump in but the response time was ridiculous. I wanted to kill thmy 2 after I cried and thanked Jesus for all of their safe return. I think their trying to put me in an early grave! Thank God and the Angels that they have watching over them!!

Glad they are okay! Now they have a story to tell their grandkids....

Wow, thank God they're all ok. This story will no doubt be told forever by all of those involved. Now they should be grounded for the rest of their lives for almost giving you a heart attack!

Really dumb that they did not have a personal floatation device on as required by USCG.....

Ever heard of SAFE BOATING CLASSES???????

IF you and other parents taught your kids water safety, there would be no reason for a 911 call!

You live in an area surrounded by WATER..teach them how to deal with it!!!

You should be billed by all who volunteered their time to rescue your stupid kids and his stupid friends!!!!

Where were you all this time? Praying to Jesus?

I didn't hear any of this, I was at the movies. On the way up to Prince Frederick I did see several police cars coming south with lights and sirens, must have been heading to one of these calls.

The cops came south because someone had a gun. The same house they always go to on Mill Creek. Sound familiar?

Yeah it was really really stupid and hopefully you watch your kids more closely and don't have to worry about them doing dumb crap. But if yours or anyone else's for that matter ever do decide to do something so stupid I sure do hope and pray that they are as LUCKY as mine! And this stupid parent was 3 blocks away making dinner for her 18 and 15 year olds that decided to do something stupid, Yeah it was really dumb and THANK GOD we do have a response team. And hopefully more adults wouldn't be some STUPID to blame the parents all the time sometimes kids just do things. Like what you just did speaking totally like an idiot!! Maybe you need a swim to KOOL off!

Glad everyone is ok! I think I speak for everyone and say that we were all kids once, and we did probably more dumb things then that. It's all part of growing up, learning lessons, and discipline! No biggie! I hope you didn't punish then too badly! I'm sure it scared the heck out of them! That is a very long time to be out there thrown around by the bay water.

Did you ever take the time to teach your kids water safety?
Teach them how to swim or to wear a life jacket when on the water?
You are the mom...it is your responsibility to teach them to be safe..unless you dont care...

I learned to swim BEFORE I learned how to ride a bike..and always wore those orange life jackets when out on the water....

And yeah.. I was part of that "response" ( EMT/FF) team years ago...and did a lot of body recovery...none had floatation devices on....

Dont go crying here because your kids are too ignorant to learn or you are too stupid to teach them.
And cant an 18 yo cook/feed him/her self so you can supervise your smaller children??????

As a mom who saw to it that her kids knew how to swim practically before they could walk and preached water and boating safety (because of my own fear of water), as well as don't drink and drive, wear your seatbelt, don't smoke, my darling angels sometimes did things they KNEW they should NOT do and found themselves in situations that weren't the smartest or safest. Ott and I are/were good parents and we raised good kids. I think you're being a tad harsh without knowing all of the facts. If I'd have been that mother watching MY children in that cold, angry Bay..they have had to cart me off to the hospital with them.

Standing on the shore watching their kids drown?

TWO HOURS and NO ONE COULD HELP?

No one knows how to swim or save someone in the water?

Kids should be let off and the parents punished/charged for neglect.

There is no excuse for not knowing how to swim or have some BASIC boating sense in this area surounded by so much water!!!

Sure did..learned to swim before I could get a bike...we all did..
Lived right by the big Atlantic Ocean.....
And I knew well enought to wear a life jacket when in a boat...
Started sailing at age 8..on a Sunfish.....
Had a fiberglass row boat with a 25hp on it.

Besides, this is not about me, but some mommy complaining about the slow response time ..
Had she supervised her kids, taught them bacis water safety, this would not be an issue.

Take responsibility for your kids and their actions. Be an adult and be a parent.
