Can Godless Atheists Have Moral Values?

I think YOU misunderstood.

The 10 commandments basis is different depending on your belief system. If you believe in God, their basis is the word of God. If you are an atheist, their basis is best guess of man. Each person decides that for themselves. There is no provable truth either way. It's all based on your individual faith, whether that's in God and a meaning of life, or lack of God, and lack of meaning in life beyond whatever you choose it to be for your particular life.
karma response Can Godless Atheists... 02-12-2008 02:55 PM blah blah blah, i'm still not reading your posts. now go away

At least atheists have an open mind, and such good morals to stand by their beliefs by signing their karma! :lmao: :killingme

I didn't claim that Christians have a monopoly on morals. And, I think God predated the tablets that predated the Bible. And, you don't, (sort of). And, we each have the rights to our opinions. 4 of 10 is 50% less than 9 of 10, and it still boils down to opinion, yes.

If god predated them, wouldn't he have been mentioned?

It seems like it would be hard to overlook the creator of everything.

unless he hadn't been invented yet.

Makes sense. Must have been an oversight. Or, lack of good record keeping. I'll look into it when I pass on.

ok cool.

I'm not sure how everyone up to roughly year zero happened to forget about god.

Damn lazy filers.
0 AD? I, uh, don't think they did.

Why do you think they forgot? Lack of written record (from people without written records of anything)?

Lack of written record?

I just gave an example of written record from almost 2000 years before the word christianity was even thought of.

I thought you meant before that.

I wonder if anything from that long ago was lost to time?

Well one would think that if things like laws and paintings of animals could survive that some evidence of the creator of everything ever would exist right?

I think it stands to reason.

You're here aren't you.

I meant more along the lines of written proof.

You'd think something like 'god' wouldn't have been forgotten before the late B.C. early A.D. era.

edit: also, my being here doesn't lend itself to proof god exists.

Ah! Therein lies the difference.
To Christians, we are the proof. Made in His image.

He has a strange and conflicting image.

also, just because christians say it's proof, doesn't mean it is.

I can say that I'm proof that god doesn't exist. I can back it up as well as any christian can that we're proof he's there.

Your "reason". Maybe God has a different enough "reason", something beyond our comprehension for now?

That's why she said "To Christians..." not "to everyone everywhere always"
