It's actually the CRE Clubhouse. We're high faloutin' now! :killingme Actually B had me sold on the idea when he said we could drink as much as we wanted and be 5 minutes from home. SOLD!
Excellent. Now as soon as you secure the church, flowers, caterer, rings, dress, music, etc. you'll be done.

IMO, I think it would be a good idea to let folks know heavy hd's will be served. That way they don't show up hungry and expecting to eat. I can't recall a wedding where a meal was not served so I'm just guessing most people could assume the same.

We're unanimous!

I like the CRE hall because you can say "I had my reception at the Chesapeake Ranch Estates hall", which sounds nicer than "the VFW".

7pm wedding with an 8pm reception is perfect. And I like heavy hors d'oeuvres instead of a sit down dinner - it's more festive, I think.

:yay:

We need the scallop recipe from Clarke's Landing. :yay:

I seriously doubt folks would expect to be served dinner at a reception that doesn't even start until 8... :eyebrow:

Pix, I have seen several invites that say mention "hors d'oeuvres" in the reception blurb part of the invitation... sounds like you are good to go...:yay:

Be careful what you ask for... she's a bride on a budget and you very well may end up with skate instead of true scallops...:eyebrow:

I have an apt for flowers on Thursday afternoon. I looked at dresses last Saturday and have another apt on the 30th. I already have a good idea of what I want. We're going Thursday night (if I'm not totally exhausted) to pick out on engagement ring (the story of the engagement, he did not want to attempt this on his own cause I'm picky :nerd: ) and get his finger sized so we can order our wedding bands (they're coming from Ireland). We're friends with a DJ..... The church and the reception site were the biggies. :faint: Thanks everyone, though nothing is set in stone, I feel better!

I would. You think about it this way - the bridal party is busy, busy, busy the entire day getting ready for the event. The only time that day they'll have a good meal is possibly during the reception.

I always assume a meal will be served unless I'm told otherwise. That's just me though.

The invitations will specifically say it's a "cocktail hour" reception or something of the like. :yay:

And as for you missy. I plan on feeding the bridal party dinner that evening.

Just say "heavy hors d'oeuvres" on the reception card. People will know that's all they're getting.

I like that better. I'm thinking olives and cherries during cocktail hour.
