Since you are talking a late reception... I assume you won't be catering a dinner, but will be providing "finger foods" instead... might I suggest you PM Airgasm as he does some catering on the side.

... but if she ends up having a 8 p.m. reception... most folks will eat dinner before they hit the wedding... it makes sense that it would be "heavy" finger foods... I sure would hope she doesn't plan to on getting away with just chips, pretzels and popcorn...cattitude said:Typically, evening weddings serve a dinner...especially if they serve alcohol. You are going to have to pick a time that will allow people to eat something other than finger food...unless it will be "heavy" finger food.
And I understand money is an object. But we went through this with my son's wedding a few years back.
pixiegirl said:Yes, it fits 200 people, I can have booze, can rent it till 1:00 in the morning and is cheap. Gold star!
I'm all about good timing now... say 7:00 wedding, 8:00 reception good?

I think me, you and Catt are all on the same page with this... now we have to get Vrai to agree to a reception at the CRE hall...pixiegirl said:No, if I have a wedding at 7:00 in the evening that's well after normal dinner hours as it is. Of course the invitation would specifically state that it is a "cocktail hour" reception. If people can't deduce that they should eat dinner before a 7:00 wedding and 8:00 "cocktail hour" reception than I really don't know what to say.

I'm busy that day.pixiegirl said:It's on the water if that helps.
Thank you! I couldn't spell that to save my life... hence the "finger foods" reference...vraiblonde said:hors d'oeuvres

I like the CRE hall because you can say "I had my reception at the Chesapeake Ranch Estates hall", which sounds nicer than "the VFW".
7pm wedding with an 8pm reception is perfect. And I like heavy hors d'oeuvres instead of a sit down dinner - it's more festive, I think.
