Very short drive. Apartment to biz = 6 min
I can't imagine commuting from here to the DC area unless I lived in the Northern end of Calvert. kudos to those willing to make the drive; what kinda car for those long hauls?

I commute from Prince Frederick to Annapolis - 48 miles one way - using Rt. 4 to 301 to 50.

Wouldn't it be shorter to take Rt2 to Annapolis? 301 seems to be a little out of the way.

I'm just curious - what is everyone's commute time/distance? I didn't realize just how long some people do drive to get to work. I have seen people at the Park-n-Ride at Rt. 2 at 5:00 am! Gosh - what time do you have to be at work and what time do you finish?

When I go to Annapolis, I always take RT2. A straight shot.
Why go out of your way to go via 301 and 50?

I tried Rt. 2 for the first couple of weeks. It is a single-lane road and when you get behind 8 cars doing 50 miles per hour, you can't pass. Although it seems like a straighter shot, it takes at least 15-20 minutes longer because of the strings of traffic that form.

I even tried taking Rt. 2 to Birdsville Road, cutting through to Rt. 50. Not much better since all of that is one lane road as well.

I can do between 65-70 on Rt. 4, 65-70 on 301 and 75 on Rt. 50. I get to Annapolis in 50 minutes.

Around 18 miles, on good days I can get to/from work in 21 minutes. Dunkirk to Andrews. If there is an accident on Rt. 4, I usually wait it out, the bailouts fill up quickly and usually are worse.

Does anyone buy into the theory that it is a waste of time/energy to commute long distances in order to make more money? In other words, you could make considerably less closer to home and not incur the commute costs - not mention have more time with family/friends, etc.
doesn't work in my case.

i go to work early and hubby sticks around to see the kids off to school; i'm home at a reasonable time to allow them outside time, check homework, do dinner, spend time with them. i drive, because the commuter bus added more time than i wanted to my commute. i would reconsider if they had an express.

Should be Huntin
right now 75 miles each way. I leave my house at 4 when I don't go to the gym, get there at 5:40. Coming home varies on the day of the week. At 10-15 min at least for everyday of the week. I try to leave at 2-2:30 get home around 4 if there are no accidents.

Not as bad as when I had a job way out in VA. I was driving 85 miles one way out there, then I also had a job in Arlington, 2 in Fairfax, and one in Seven Corners all at the same time. I could not get anything done, kept going to Cracker Barrel for breakfast every morning. :lmao:
