I saw that, too. And another one up the road a bit for Cheseldine's.Heard today that the Happy Family restaurant is being torn down and new car wash is going in that location.
If someone isn't smart enough to know that their electric bill is due each month AND that they are supposed to pay the bill before a certain time then they deserve to live life without electricity! They can always use their precious cell phone to call SMECO and ask how much and how they can pay.
How ignorant do people have to get before they are held accountable? Just like the idiots driving around on 1 year expired tags and saying "I paid months ago and never received them." Yeah... Mmmkay
Good, it was getting depressing watching new restaurants go in there and fail time after time.Heard today that the Happy Family restaurant is being torn down and new car wash is going in that location.

It's really not surprising, but I'm lost here. Where exactly are we talking about? At first I was thinking the old Perkins restaurant which is currently Happy Seafood, but there aren't any car wash places in town since the one at Burchmart was razed. What the h*ll are they thinking? Two car washes less than a mile from each other. This town is nothing like it was when I moved here in 2005.
Uhhhh... feel free to point out the part where you refer specifically to any "water usage billing."Uhhhh. The comment was regarding Leonardtown's quarterly water usage billing. And, not everyone is so highly skilled as you are when it come to accessing any online content. In fact, many people do not.
For your consideration ...
Leonardtown is losing/lost its town charm status with all the new commercial construction and high density housing. In a few more years, it won't be recognizable.
You can thank the Leonardtown government for the destruction of a once quaint town. And what it boils down to? More tax revenue to feed the government coffers.
"The Commissioners of Leonardtown adopted the Downtown Strategic Plan prepared by Mahan Rykiel Associates at their February 11, 2019 Town Council meeting. This plan is a product of many stakeholder sessions and public meetings. The plan will serve as a visionary document that shapes the future of downtown Leonardtown. The scope of the plan includes both economic and urban development strategies."
And I really love their Marxist thinking .... For the supposed everybody-knows-everybody friendly neighbors town, it projects complete disassociation from the public it is set up to ostensibly serve. Just like SMECO.
NOTICE OF NEW UTILITY LATE FEE
Utility bills are mailed at the end of each calendar quarter. Failure to receive a bill does not constitute grounds for non-payment.
So, if there are people that do not use computers or smartphones, or simply do not pay bills online, how is one supposed to know how much to pay?
Oh. And I bet ya, in the near future, annexation of new lands/areas will happen. It is only a matter of time.
If ya want to know what the future of Leonardtown will be, with such altruistic endeavors as, "Tap potential for Downtown housing—through both owner occupied and for-rent products • Exploit potential opportunity for a flagged hotel", here is the Downtown [Leonardtown] Strategic Plan. That I'm guessing that many do not even know about.

Like, duh. It is right there in my original post. BTW. When was the last time SMECO billed quarterly? .....Uhhhh... feel free to point out the part where you refer specifically to any "water usage billing."
I'll quote it for you here:
Also, are you saying the people are too stupid to use their telephones to call a utility provider to ask when their bill is due and how much it is? I am guessing so if you think an acceptable excuse for people not paying is "I didn't get a bill in the mail."

They kept the old folks regular.Place was always packed when it was Perkins.
I'm usually white knuckling it through there at 50-54 trying not to get rear ended. Driving 14mph over, most times won't get you a reckless driving charge. Anyway, who's got time to look away from traffic? There's a sign of one coming along the stretch where all the construction is.
Because the floor was so sticky people couldn't leave!Place was always packed when it was Perkins.

I hope the Cheseldines one is like the one down in Lexington park. I love that car wash.
I loved me some Perkins baked goods.Because the floor was so sticky people couldn't leave!
