Think a hazmat team is prepping to enter the building and will do so after the decontamination area is set up for them.

The big concern at the Court house, other than the powder, is that the letter implied that there is a bomb. So they are doing a bomb sweep, as well as the whole powder decon.

Basicly they are having a chance to play with all the toys. And hopefully it's just a hoax, and no one will be hurt.

Now the news people are arriving.

News media is now getting involved. Channel 4 has called in relation to media relations and the public information office is being urged to get on the stick and do their job. Some of those words are mine but the gist is true.

This is what was on nbc4.com:
LA PLATA, Md. -- Police, firefighters and hazmat units are at the county courthouse on Charles Street in La Plata investigating a suspicious letter, authorities said.

Authorities received the report just before 1 p.m. Monday. The letter contained threats, and emergency response personnel evacuated the building

Yep, no doubt now it's the court house. Hazmat is going in and the lady that sorts the mail will be getting checked out for any contamination. Also the mail truck that is supposed to deliver todays mail is in the parking lot and will be checked.

So far it sounds like this is all precautionary. Are you hearing anyone say anything about any test turning up positive...

Anthrax Attack Closes Charles’ Courthouse
LAPLATA - As of 1:30 p.m. Monday the Charles County Circuit Courthouse and surrounding area is being completely evacuated due to a bomb threat and suspected anthrax attack.
A threatening letter was reportedly received with a white powdery inside, and the paper read “tick tick boom.”
Bomb threats are a common occurrence in Charles County, but officials must still treat each report as serious as the real thing.
Check back with ST. MARY’S TODAY at details emerge.

I think I heard someone say a test came back as product. They were asked again if it was negative or product, they said product. They were then told to tripple bag it and follow procedure.

But then it cut off.

Yes, during the initial testing of the powder there was ?something? detected but I'm not saying it was anthrax - more like it just didn't test the way it should have. Just heard the post office has reopened so maybe it was closed down just because these were letters from there that arrived at the court house. They are currently doing more testing on the powder so I'm tempted to say anthrax has not been determined at this point. Trooper 7 is also on it's way now also but I'm not sure why. God knows I love these people for doing their jobs and I know they are doing everything humanly possible but it sure makes me wonder what would happen if we had a terrorist attack down here.
