Crime Surge Overwhelms St. Mary’s County Amid Law Enforcement Leadership Concerns

When reading that article, one has to ask, is it really the job of the Sheriff's Office to do everything these people want? Such as this, "While patrol deputies are responding swiftly to these incidents, many residents feel that the surge in crime indicates deeper systemic issues within the Sheriff’s Office leadership." The majority of the problems here rest with the judiciary and the prosecutors office, lax laws or unenforcement of laws. Exactly how is the Sheriff's office supposed to combat any "surge in crime" other than to respond when/after a crime has been committed? They already "patrol" and are visible. But deputies can't be everywhere at all times.

Who is really to blame here? Planning and zoning boards, County Commissioners, and the developers of "low income housing", also know as a magnet for ferals to section 8 housing. This is where people should focus their ire, as well as all those judges and bond commissioners that care more for the feelings of the feral community rather than protecting the people from them.

Then in article 2 there this BS .... "As St. Mary’s County continues to grapple with this wave of gun violence, the need for effective solutions is more urgent than ever." We all know it is not "gun violence" but a majority of feral criminals shooting and killing and robbing people. The people should demand law enforcement to go back to profiling. Not profiling every black person, but every person, White or black, that has that 'look', (ya know, that 'look'? Disheveled knotty hair, face tats, etc.), and those with history with law enforcement interactions, or with a history of a violent past. Oh, and those that wear their pants halfway down their asses. Those ferals doing that are a dead giveaway. And pull over every car with tinted driver's and passenger door windows.

There sheriff stopped in my place of business for a visit this past week and this is basically what I told him. We have seen a change in our small community in the last 5-10 years, and not for the better. I blame the STS bus for some of our changes. It makes the undesirables more mobile. We've had incidents in the last 6 months where we have actually seen these lawbreakers get off the STS bus, commit the offense, and then get back on the STS bus and go back to where ever they came from.

And the homeless are starting to move into our community, which of course brings in other problems. That's not the fault of the leadership of the sheriff, but the fault of elected leadership and policies. When I figure out the solution to the homeless issues, I will run for county commissioner.

Well personally I want them to make it uncomfortable to be a criminal, shoot a few, run over a few with their cruisers when chasing the suspects, make them disappear, I don't care what. Or at the very least stay out of the way when a law abiding citizen works at fixing the issue.

apparently, some collective minds are telling people in North Beach, specifically Burnt Oaks area that its going to be a sanctuary city soon, and asking for donations to fight the policy. Of course, its probably a baseless rumor, (unless H & W are inserted) but its a scam with teeth, unlike most Chopticonists... and Waldorphians)

That would be amazing. But a quick story: my 3rd grade teacher was very much like you, saw the evil in the local government, ran for office, won. In less than 3 years, he quit. I never saw a more dejected and disillusioned man in my life.
And see - I think I would be the same way. I've run the scenarios thru my head many times, and I can see myself getting up in the middle of a commissioner meeting and saying "F*ck this job and F*ck all of you dumba$$es - I don't need this $hit in my life!". And then I would move out of the county to my retirement dream place, which I haven't found yet.

I blame the criminals, 100%.

The people should demand law enforcement to go back to profiling.
I feel that LE does do some subtle profiling in SOMD. I read a lot of the news articles where cops pull someone over for a bad taillight or some other minor infraction. Then they discover a gun or dope in the vehicle. I think these folks were on law enforcement's radar already. They just needed a reason to interact with them. It happened way too often to be a coincidence. FWIW, I have zero issues with cops doing that. I think it should be SOP for LE all over the country.

I got pulled over late one night for a tail light in a rental I had gotten at DCA near lusby and then again as soon as I got across the bridge. Both were kind of annoyed when I told them it was a rental that I just got to come home from DCA from official government travel.

I got pulled over on Rt. 4 at 1 am a Sunday morning in my old Volvo, coming home from BWI. Reason: My tag light was out. Cop was clearly irritated that I was not DUI. He wrote me a repair order and stomped off. I slapped the light and it came on....LOL.

Power with Control
So the most recent shooting case one of the guys they got was 32 years old. He's got a rap sheet about a full page long about half of it criminal cases. But what struck me is it appears he was arrested for being a felon in possession of an illegal firearm just 2 years ago. No, I haven't dove into the details but now I'm wondering exactly how much time he actually spent behind bars for that crime

That "felon in possession" charge is often dropped. Many times by State's Attorneys who then want to have stricter gun control laws adopted to keep firearms out of the "wrong hands".

If they locked them up in the first case crime would plummet. The "wrong hands" using illegal guns is central casting, right in front of them.
